This is a good simple way to transition into a different drop. As you mentioned Phil, lots of DJs do it. Keeping things interesting creatively is a great DJ trait. It also prevents us from getting bored behind the desks, hahahaha!!!!!!!!

I love using your edm techniques on basic hip hop/pop tracks. It is definitely harder as you have way less options for where to bring in the next song. But it is super fun when you find that perfect spot in both songs that make it seem like the tracks are conversating with each other. Last night I was playing NO by Meghan Trainor at the club... a dozen girls were rocking out on the dance floor and towards the end Meghan goes into her bridge "if that boy starts acting up. All you gotta SAY IS!" I slowly brought up the intro beat to "Best Friend" by Doja Cat and Sweetie and just as Meghan says "ALL YOU GOTTA SAY IS" I cut it and the beat was aligned perfectly to "thats my best friend"... the girls loved it because it created a cool dialogue where if a creepy guy is harassing a girl, girls usually find their best friend to save them. So "if that boy aint givin up and if that man starts actin up...all you gotta say is, thats my best friend." And the subject was changed. Anyways explaining it in text does it no justice ...but it had those girls jumping up and down. As a beginner I still only have a handful of songs where I have found these perfect matches. But Im only a month into DJing and Ive learned so much thanks to tutorials like this. This first year is gonna be so much fun!

Listen when you are setting up tracks in your library be cognizant of which tracks go together and would create a good drop swap and then set the q points there and make them blue or whatever f****** color you want and this way you know when to queue up the new one and you can even catch the few bars before it if you want to drop it a little bit quicker than the drop

Platinum notes or any gain leveling program is also important. Make sure your trim knobs are right for the drop if not. Nothing worse than big buildup quiet drop.
