I have a handy tip for you... if you run your fingernail along the twisty handle, it will sprinkle the enamel out nice and evenly for you.

Barbara Smith Hi Barbara, You can purchase leather gloves from a gas supplier or hardware store. Harbor Freight also carries welding gloves: Item#41054. I use two types: regular leather work gloves and welding gloves. You can also find a leather shirt or buy a leather or fire resistant apron for additional protection. My friend Sugar wears a leather vest/dress that she purchased at the thrift store. She wears it whenever she solders. Eye wear: Any safety UV glasses. Amazon has many types like this one that blocks 99% of UV rays: Pyramex Fortress Safety Eyewear. No open toed shoes and keep those gas hoses out of the way. Do you think it would be possible to spray the clear fire through a stencil and then sprinkle enamel onto the wet area and avoid the surrounding area?

Beth Millner Hi Beth. Yes, I do but, there is always clean up. There are ways to spray the adhesive using an aerosol can: Thompson Enamel carries this: A7 - Preval Aerosol Kit/ This is also useful when working on very dimensional pieces and for areas that are hard to reach. I have not tried your idea but, would image it would work best with a flat piece. You could also draw or transfer your pattern and then carefully paint the Klyr Fire within the lines - I would work in small sections. Another method involves using either a negative or positive stencil. Cut the shape from regular printer paper. Fire one or two base coats of enamel onto the metal. When done, paint the whole piece with the diluted binder. Press the paper onto the wet surface. It will stick where it is wet. Sift and remove the paper. It helps to make a pull tab on the stencil for ease of removal. All of this is much easier on a flat surface. There is also enamel paint: acrylic and water color to name a few. Once you start w/the colored enamel and you are not happy. Can you remove it and start over?

Ben Nuccio Hi Ben, you can sift another color over it - especially for opaques. There may be a change in color though. Try two coats. I would experiment before enameling your final piece.
