Hey, great video! Thanks for taking the time to explain this all in great detail. I happen to be running into a very annoying problem that is driving me bonkers and I was really hoping you could help. I follow all your steps, however everytime i go to use the puppet tool and click the image, the mouse turns into a square and does not draw the dots? . if you could help id really appreciate it. Cheers

Literally when you posted this is when I was given multiple projects for explainer videos. I am pretty well adapt with after effects and I can draw characters, however, I’ve never animated them before. This gives me a great start. Thank you

Maybe try using Adobe Character Animator 2020. There are some tutorials out there. Should be enough to figure it out. It's basicly a similar process, with creating a character puppet via Adobe Illustrator, then pin it in Character Animator and then use your webcam Automate your facial expressions and use shortkeys for animating other bodymovements. Kinda nice program for daily needs of Explainer Videos for example! ✌🏼😎
@minadief4 жыл бұрын
@@SophisticatedMedia I'm coming from Adobe character animator , but I see more possibilities here, Character animator is fast, but not flexible as After Effects but yea for just explainer video , I will use Character Animator and I might green screen the character and use after effects to animate the background, and bring them all together using premiere pro

Overall liked this tutorial. The face rig you made was smart and I'm definitely going to use that method. I think this is an excellent way of making a stock character for a client work when you have very little time. If you only have ten minutes for each character, this is what you should do. If you have more time, opt to fix any of the animation errors. Her leg squishes a little and this can be fixed by separating out the right arm from the body. It would then make it so you could still puppet pin the arm, but negate the warping a little. Some clients will honestly not care, as long as there is a character moving in their explainer video. Some clients will. It's all about figuring out what each person expects and needs.
