Its so soggy looking. I'd rather make French toast the old fashioned way. It's better to beat eggs BEFORE you add other liquids to them.

No doubt…what the heck . I suppose it’s a little better than eating fast food but with a tiny bit more effort…she could be serving better quality dishes. There was a time I couldn’t cook to save my life, however after watching some very awesome chefs on YT I have become a very successful and I’d say rather good chef myself!!

Definitely not a fan of soggy french toast and I wouldn't make it this way but I'm guessing it's really a french toast casserole because you know those eggs that went in NOT on the bread just made eggs at the bottom of the crock. Not a fan but I get if others are.

I think you could have cut the bread easily into squares and placed them in a buttered casserole. Then beat the eggs, add sugar, spices and seasonings. Add raisins and nuts. Pour the mixture over the bread cubes and bake. Would take less time, would not stick, and you would have a nice bread pudding. You can also just make French toast on a sheet pan in the oven pretty easily.

This recipe is better if you use a bread that has more body. Plain white bread like this isn't great unless you let it dry out in the oven first. Better to use baguette bread or a panettone.

Looks great, but I, myself, prefer a dryer bread pudding. I’m going to try and cut back a cup of milk and less eggs and then add some fruit and cooked bacon or bacon bits. But I bet it tastes good just like it is! Thanks for sharing 🙂
