In this fishing video we filmed fishing Venus Bay on the Eyre Peninsula South Australia and and cooking our catch (catch and cook). We used a variety of rigs including float rigs, paternoster rigs (with size 1.0 and 20.0 circle hooks, burley spring and a pear bomb sinker) and a trailing sinker rig (with a single size 2.0 hook). For fishing bait we used fresh Australian Herring (Tommy Ruff). We fished the North Western end of Venus Bay (Witera) on the Eyre Peninsula, South Australia and we caught lots of Salmon and a couple of good sized Mullet. At the end of the day we had a campfire and cooked the Mullet over the hot coals. It was YUM!

The best thing about your channel is how you’re teaching everything at a beginner level from site selection, winds, to all the names of the various bits of the tackle which gets a lot of the beginners like me confused and can be overwhelming and can put people off as it seems so complicated, but you make it so simple and enjoyable. Cant wait to go out there and start fishing

@@fishingsister If you get the chance try the top of the gulf at Pt Augusta . Up near the train bridge , you can get there in your car and you will find big schools of them all the way along this area . Bait , lures , live bait they are not fussy and it's crazy how many are up there . They range from 4kgs up to 25kgs and beyond . I worked up there for 9months and got sick of catching them .

people on the West Coast eat their salmon but you got to bleed the right away snap the neck and pull the head back .Commercial salmon fishermen used to cook them right away but they always coated them in Grayvox powder first then fry.Lot of Eyre Peninsula folks smoke them in home made smoke boxes which can be okay as well most ends up as cray bait though.Head on up to the wild west to Fowlers bay i remember about 20 years ago when i was a Tuna fisherman my boss came up with the idea of carting the sections of the tuna farms up to Folwers and assembling them on the beach rather than tow the whole farms at 2 or 3 knots from Lincoln by boat saving a weeks towing. The farms were 30 meters in diameter so as we built them the outer edge of the ring was that far from the beach as we launched them and in about 3 or 4 ft of water ....there were shark fins everywhere milling around the ring as there was heaps of Tommies etc congregating under them never seen so many bronzies in my life (except at Bollingbrook while live baiting one night) .There are Tommies (Tommy Ruffs /native herring ) up there as big as small salmon and are excellent eating cooked over the coals of a wood fire ( favorite west coast thing is fresh tommies on a slice of bread right off the wood grill NO fillets that's for wimps whole fish gutted and scaled pull the flesh off the bones with hands or a fork salt and pepper ...now that's good eating) the western end is where the salmon/tommies beach and bronzies are there is or was a jetty in front of the township can also fish from there and blue crabs as well.On the western end of the bay around from the township if you have a boat is a lump just under the surface of the water there is snapper by the bag there as well as a few other species. There is also a seal colony which is bad news up that way as it means white pointers i was on a boat that sunk there in the middle of the night in a gale while trying to get back to the tuna boat that was anchored a few miles from shore and almost drowned.... the guy who owned the kiosk told me the next day there had been a huge pointer cruising backward and forwards past the colony for weeks not good news as the boat that sunk was carrying a ton of frozen pilchards in 30 kg blocks so i was treading water in a blood and fish oil slick in the middle of the night while another tinny was searching for me .also further west around the point is where i believe they used to go after mulloway .cheers.

Wow you sure have some stories to tell 😃. We have recently spent some time on the West Coast at Streaky and around Elliston. Probably the best fishing I will ever have! It was amazing. Didn't get up to Fowlers and Dog Fence but will go there one day for sure
