Great video, as always! I bought the Canon R5 last April, and recently, when I'm filming in 4K (like I used to do with 5D MK IV), the LCD screen is turned black, on off all the time and the camera is not functioning but continued to record, I don't know if it's because it's an old SD card (V30)? Because I'm using Eco mode? I just updated the firmware 1.9. I'm not sure if it's going to fix this... I would appreciate it if you could help me.

Hi Canon R50 is my new camera. Is there a field monitor for the Canon r50 that allows the touch autofocus feature to work on the Field monitor? And is there a way to keep the camera body screen to stay on all the time whilst the micro hdmi connects to a field monitor? I want to use a field monitor for daytime field focusing (larger screen 5.5inch and above with 1000nits+) and I also want to use the touch screen focus drag tool but this doesn't seem to work. All this in video mode, to be clear.

Hi there and thanks for watching. I’m not aware of any monitor that can do this with the R50. The only option for the touch screen operating the camera that I know of is ow of is your smartphone. I bought the Feelworld F5 Pro touch screen thinking I would have this function but it only allows for controlling the monitor functions. I also use the cheaper Neewer F100 7in monitor in my studio environment

@@cre8r61 Thanks so much. I see, so the field monitors mentioned don't seem to mirror the r50 screen together with it's touch features such as focus. That's a shame. I've tried to use my smartphone using USB Camera app on Android and even that doesn't give the focus tap option. Pinching the smartphone image seems to enlarge the smartphone image only but not reflect on the r50. I do wish there was a solution. In short I guess we would all benefit from a larger r50 touch screen that is brighter for daytime use outdoors in the field. For now I'm wearing magnifying reading glasses to operate to give a slightly better view of the r50 which isn't ideal.

@@diaxpora Remembering this is an entry level camera (or classed as such) and power zoom isn't a feature. It still a great camera with some shortcomings. I wish when an HDMI cable was attached you could still use the R50 screen as a touch screen but we make do with what we have and create great imagery with the lenses and camera capabilities. @@julilopez hi and thanks for watching. Have a look at a fast lens. I’m currently testing the Sigma 18-50mm f2.8 great focal range and faster than the kit lens. There is a noise reduction setting in the menu too from memory. Hope this info helps. Lightroom/photoshop have noise reduction features. I used the R50 with the kit lens for Astro shooting the Milky Way on a trip to Central Australia. Thanks for watching - I don’t think there’s a setting for that. When you plug in your monitor you don’t get the touch screen functionality. I see benefit in both working. It could drain the battery quickly.

Thanks for watching. The second hand market often has bargains (I love a bargain) and the M50 is worth a look. This is still a great camera. Pair this with a ef to m adapter and purchase some ef lenses and you’ve future protected yourself when you look to upgrade your camera later down the track

Using this method you can turn the screen to the camera body and use the EVF. This will save battery power and there are extensive power saving settings under the Yellow Wrench Menu > Page 2 > Power Saving • *Screen Dimmer* from 10 sec to 30 sec • *Screen Off* from 1min to 30 min • *Auto Power* Off from 15 sec to 30min • *Viewfinder* Off from 1min to 3min _** These settings can also be disabled_

Maybe you’re in eco/power saving mode on your R50? In Movie mode - Press the Menu Button and go to the wrench tab (Yellow Menu) > select Item 2 and go to Power Saving. I have turned all these off. Hope this helps and thanks for watching
