I purchased both the jetliner and IFR sets. I now understand why the ratings don't go above 4 stars. Man, what a quest it is to find the buttons and levers in the jetliner. They don't light up. As always another good tip, Mark. This is how I get through the winter: puzzling.

Mark I take back all that I wrote about the quest. I downloaded the manual and is a big help. The photos show where all the buttons, switches, and levers are situated. I should have done it before a comment . Sorry.

My recommendation for simmers who want to take their simming to the next level is as follows (it is what I did many years ago). It did not cost me a fortune. 1. do flight sim lessons. spend many hours on them. I did it 20 years ago on flight simulator. It teaches you the basics of single engine Power-Attitude-Trim, which is an important thing to learn. Most simmers do not do power-attitude-trim. 2. take some real flying lessons. You dont tell them you are not serious. You tell them you want a PPL and do some lessons. I did 10 hours and one landing but you could easily do just a few hours which will not cost too much money. This real time experience is a huge help. My biggest shock on my first real lesson was how similar it was to simming (I had already done 5 years of flight simming) and when I discovered my instructor used PC simulators all the time. He loved them. Told me they made great IFR training tools. He said that he could practice IFR approaches in the sim in places and conditions he could not do in real life. He told me the most important thing about flight simulators - THE MORE REAL WORLD EXPERIENCE YOU HAVE, the MORE REAL A SIM WILL FEEL. AND: always treat a simulator like the real thing. What you put in is what you get out. Treat it like a game and it will get boring quickly, This is 100% true. FS Academy looks good.

Just purchased the VFR module, and now working on my circuits. I have to say it helped me quite a bit . I am doing some circuiting 'on my own' and i get better and better (hint: try Grand Forks Intl, flat land, a lot of visual cues, like straight roads and lakes, easy to practice)

I purchased the Navigator package and installed it. I went into Activities > Custom Content and went into the first mission. All I had were some on screen dialog boxes with the Objectives and a mini VFR map I believe. I thought based on the manual that you would have an instructor talking to you and guide you. On page 5 it says, ""Some landmarks will be highlighted on screen by a marker to aid identification, but as these are not always located on the centreline of your route, this does not necessarily imply you should steer towards them. Your instructor will guide you appropriately." I got way way off course and there's no instructor telling me anything whatsoever. Am I missing something here?

I have all the training modules and agree they are pretty good and make you a better pilot, although you do have to devote the time to going through each lesson, sometimes multiple times, to get the full benefit. My biggest beef is with the bouncing around between aircraft in the lessons. I'd like to be able to choose a plane to use for the entire VFR series, for example. It may be technically unworkable, but having two or three aircraft to choose from would be ideal. It's confusing enough for a beginner without throwing them into a different plane where all the controls are in different places and sometimes aren't even in the same language. (MooseP)

Agree.. kinda a dumb decision to take a beginner into multiple aircraft with different controls... you wouldn't train like that in real life...

Different aircraft are required to show the difference between analog and Garmin instruments for example. Also bear in mind this is general IFR / VFR training and not designed to show you how to cover off the basics of getting airborne.

New to FS and found your channel just two weeks ago, great content, lots to learn and discover, thanks a lot for all your efforts. I will follow your guidance soon to set up my VR environment, and I am very excited about this. Having flown the DA40 with G1000 in the past in real life, I wonder if you know and can recommend a sophisticated G1000 training software? I am also looking into flight sim hardware to have a G1000 controller sort of thing.

Firstly, thanks for such high-quality content! Secondly, regarding soaring, could you perhaps someday make a video regarding flight planning and weather planning for stock Soaring flight in MSFS? I'm a beginner in soaring and am unsure if the preset weather Microsoft gives us are adequate for soaring, if there is a realistic amount of thermals and such, or should we change a few parameters / create more cloud layers. Thanks!

@SimHanger Flight Simulation I see. My concern was regarding the preset weather (like "clear skies", "few clouds" and such) being too simple for proper soaring - unlike the soaring training mission weather that probably have custom cloud layers, winds and so on. But will give it more tries and see how they fare for soaring. Thank you!

So I bought all of these EXCEPT for the "Airliner" - but I'd love to hear your thoughts on this. When I think of trying to fly, with even a slight sense of realism, a full airbus is that even under the most exceptional conditions there are at least two in the command seats. Because there's just THAT much you have to do other than when flying level and straight in AP mode. So I'm thinking - how the heck can a single pilot benefit? Also - I'm much more partial to the 747 (it's an American thing, I guess, but the Mentour pilot channel I follow is almost exclusively 747 incidents) so I'm also wondering if I'd find the 320 not much of a match (and that's what FS Academy uses). Anyway - have you used the Airliner tutorials and what value would you put on them in terms of "fun" (since that's all we ever want from our sims - fun, albeit in a rather challenging manner).

The Jetliner module is a generic module designed to emphasise different elements of flying a tube liner, but with a strong reference to the A320.

Must be something with the install. Uninstall and reinstall. If no luck (I am using this on Xbox currently), contact FS Academy direct. The developer is normally very quick to respond. I assume you are trying to open the modules as shown in my video.

Start with the in-built flying school tutorials built into MSFS, then move on to the VFR package, IFR etc.

You should have the instructor talking to you right from the start. Something is clearly amiss. Suggest uninstall and restart and reinstall.

@@SimHangerFS Hi Mark. I uninstalled Navigator and exited MSFS. Then I restarted and reinstalled it. Went to the activity and clicked on FLY, nothing, no voice in my headset. I guess that I will need to contact FS Academy for technical support as I can hear the Instructor in the built in MSFS Training. Hopefully they can help me.

The videos you provide are great and there is a lot of valuable learning gained. However, it the channel is getting a bit too heavy advertising based. The balance point between advertising and content is slowly leaning to the endorsed side of things when comparing to your earlier content. However like I said it offers great value.

I would Agree. It does seem that Money is becoming the primary motive and norm, but hasn't it always been that way after a slight increase in notoriety? Profit is deserved by the youtubers, but Ad's for products that are not new, Eg: "FS Academy" seem to be pushing sales due to its age without new or updated content just to make sales. I have noticed that most MSFS2020 reviews Lately seem to be sponsored by FS Academy. It's not a new product, just an old one that never seems to update.
