Easy & Fun Art for Kids: Monoprinting

This art activity for kids is one of the simplest of printmaking techniques and produces a unique result every time!
MATERIALS:
•Tempera paint on a plate or shallow dish
•Acrylic box frame or a baking dish with a smooth bottom
•Mini paint roller or paint brush
•Cotton swabs
•Art paper
•Damp sponge or rag
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Roll the paint roller back and forth in the paint to coat it evenly.
2. Roll a thin layer of paint over the top of the acrylic box frame to cover it.
3. Use a cotton swab to draw a picture, scribble, or design in the layer of paint.
4. Lay a sheet of paper over the frame and use your hands to press it evenly all over the image.
5. Lift paper to see the transferred image or monoprint.
6. Wipe the paint off the frame with a damp sponge and repeat.
