Such a simple and elegant solution to a real but unnecessary problem. I'm forever corralling gutter endcaps back into place when gutterlines invariably move during the design process.

Total "why didn't I think of that" moment. I have a family I created to stick on there, but this is so much better . . .thanks!!

This is what I use these days - got fed up with the lack of default End Cap families. I now have a little library of end caps to correspond with gutter types 😅I actually included this tip in a video last year but truthfully I had seen it somewhere else a long time ago and couldn't find my source again for reference. Complete Eureka moment when I first saw it! I have also toyed with the idea of potentially having an few adaptive component enc cap families so you can just click the boundary of the gutters but haven't given the idea a test run yet. Keep up the great work Jeff (and Chris) ! Niall

Hmm, interesting idea with adaptive. That could work. I could see them blowing up on you if the roof got modified too much... But, worth a look! Cheers!

That's waay cool! But don't you all think the out of the box gutters should cap automatically? Or have an option for a cap?

Lol, that's what I've done since 2014, perhaps I should start a KZbin channel 🤔. I watched your BAD open house and heard you mentioned the gutter end cap; I wanted to see if you had a better solution than the one I had because you usually have some great stuff but it turns out we had the same solution 😁🙈.

what about that section that the gutters cross? how to fix that?
@TheRevitKid
@TheRevitKid 3 жыл бұрын
If you mean the inside corner, simply make sure the two gutters are made at the same time (as in, don't close out of the picking of edges) and it will clean nice. THise example is messy because I had a lot of phasing and demolition going on in that corner.

I am quite new to Revit and just find the need for work around like this infuriating. As a builder I just don't understand why on earth the software can't just use components to make up gutter systems in a parametric fashion using manufacturers components so you can then get a take off list and price list for what you actually need. Drops, corners, end caps, bends etc. Stretch the roof and it just adds the right number of components etc The take off would then allow for off cuts as well knowing you need to buy a full length and cut it down.
@TheRevitKid
@TheRevitKid 2 жыл бұрын
Hey thanks for watching! I can understand your frustration, for sure... but, I can also understand why this isn't as simple as you may think. Think about how many gutter cut sheets there are out there... how many types, manufacturers, styles, etc... It would be a challenge to choose just ONE to build into the system for this purpose.... It is a similar issue with MEP fabrication parts... In the end, I do agree that the gutter tool itself could be more robust, haha!
