How do you keep from having shadows on the screens from the lights?
@GraceWells2 жыл бұрын
@@markjrich1 the biggest key is keeping as much distance as possible between the subject and the backdrop! Also be sure to use diffusers on your light sources.

Suggestion: You ignore audio, although for your purposes audio might not be as important. In fact in your video, there’s a tinny reverberation as you talk, due to echoes off your walls/ceiling. One way to decrease this problem cheaply is to order “moving blankets” (the type that professional movers wrap your dinner table or paino in while moving, and which they hang in damage-sensitive areas like elevators). A coupe of them, at angles, behind your camera can work wonders. Since you are using a backdrop, placing one behind the backdrop could help, too. Of course then you have to hang them, so more stands probably, or if you own your own studio space, well-placed eye hooks into the ceiling (at the joists) could help. Second improvement would be to look into microphone options. Basically three choices: Shotgun mic(s) which stay off camera, full sized mics (on a desk or an armature), or lavaliere mics (small, but they’re close to your mouth … but they can catch stray noises from clothing). Anyway, thanks for the nice video!

what camera would you recommend for a beginner film maker? I’ve been really interested in film making for most of my life really- and next year I’m going to be studying film and tv production at sixth form college and hopefully take it from there. I’m 16, so i can’t afford extremely expensive cameras, but with some saving up, some input from birthday money etc i should be able to afford one. Thanks so much x💞
@GraceWells4 жыл бұрын
hey hannah! first of all, that sounds AMAZING! you're so lucky that you've found your passion for film so early. I wish I'd had the chance to study it! when it comes to cameras, it all depends on your budget! I highly recommend the Sony mirrorless cameras. these start at around £500, and you can get them even cheaper if you buy secondhand. I personally use the Sony a7iii which is roughly £1700 new. my experience with Canon is that they're great for photos, but not video, so I'd steer clear if you're planning on using it for film! hope this helps!

Filming with an IPhone 11 pro can do the job ? Or a DSLR is necessary ? :)
@GraceWells4 жыл бұрын
I'd say a DSLR is never "necessary." You should never let the resources you have prevent you from creating! A DSLR is preferable, since you have more control over the way your image looks and image quality, but at the end of the day it's all about creativity and talent! If an iPhone 11 is what you have, then use it!
@hotsizzle334 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your reply. I follow you as well on TikTok. And in your video you say that you use the godox sl-60 with the neewer led light . What do you recommend, both of them are necessary or only 1 light source is enough ? Which one to choose between the godox with softbox or the 2 led light Neewer ? Thank you ❤️
@GraceWells4 жыл бұрын
@@hotsizzle33 For a long time I just used the 2 Neewer lights and they did the job, but I really love the godox as well. The godox is good for overall light while the neewer lights are a bit smaller and better for highlighting certain areas of the product/subject. I think if you have to choose between the two, go for the Neewer.

You have no right using the word budget rich people have no right talking about budget budget stuff if you got extra tall ceilings if your ceiling is over 9 ft tall you're rich and you have no right to use terms like budget because real people don't have thousands of dollars for their videography setup and that's why we type words like Budget on KZbin but we have all these rich people saying you can do it for only $1,500 you can do it for only two thousand dollars but that ain't budget. If you have a house with extra tall ceilings and you have all that kind of flow then you got a different idea of what budget means
@GraceWells2 жыл бұрын
this was my college apartment and my rent was $400. ceiling height means literally nothing 😌 videography equipment can be very expensive (sometimes over $2k just for a single light), so the term "budget" is relative
