Hungarian has something that makes it sound like turkish. I know they are both different languages and share nothing in common. But knowing how turkish is spoken, I'd say they are the same language if I hear them both.

What is the Language closest to Hungarian ? Finnish ? Or maybe the "Mansi Language" / "Khanty Language" from the Russian "Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug" ?

+maksim5078 Khanty and Mansi are the closest to Hungarian, however even these two languages have separated from Hungarian 3000 years ago (and haven't had impact on each other since that time) so we don't understand any word from their languages. Finnish and Hungarian separated even earlier (4000 or 5000 years ago, and also no impact on each other since that time). Even those words that are of common roots have so different forms today, so that we can't recognize words in each other's language. (Compare it with Germanic languages separating 2500 years ago, and continously having impact on each other, or Latin languages separating 1500 years ago and continously having impact on each other, or Slavic languages separating I don't know how many years ago and still having impact on each other, etc. ...) On the other hand we have plenty of words of Germanic, Slavic origins that are close to their original Germanic/Slavic forms, as these words are no older than 1000 years. So this Hungarian-Finnish relation is something like English-Hindi relation which are both Indo-European languages, but have separated thousands of years ago.

One of the secrets of poliglots is that they recommend, in order to develop your skills, to be foccus on listening and speaking, cuz when we are trying to learn a new language in a traditional class this is the most neglected to us. So, even if we don't get the idea of the message, let's try to find something that we consider interesting to us, that way we are gonna enjoy and develop the previous skills already mentioned. Good luck to everyone that as me, is trying to learn Hungarian 🦋🌟
