THis is one of the many areas in which Payload needs to mature. It's years away. WP setup via cleanly structured plugins (instead of smooching everything into a functions.php, which was suggested elsewhere in a Payload youtube video) already allows auto-resizing of images into multiple custom formats, auto-optimization, auto-putting into CDN, and auto-embedding of EXIF info etc etc. One issue with reinventing the wheel from scratch while achieving fast speeds for now is that to get to the same depth and richness of functionality, it'll take time, and more bloat. Payload is refreshing. Look fwd to seeing where this is a year or two from now.

I disagree, the level of flexibility is amazing. As compared to WP (that I did not use for years though), creating my own plugins like parsing PDF invoices etc is easy. Inside pages I have sections, blocks and items configured, they are recursive so I can put as many as I want inside each other while the API handles it flawlessly, like an infinite recursive ACF. Access to the db is a no-brainer, and injecting custom react components is super convenient. To me it makes total sense to develop all this in JavaScript just like the client.

Can you make a video showing how to deploy Payload to a VPS, make it run with a Next.js project?

Yeah but you have to understand wtf payload is and how a video is made or any of this could’ve just been a react tutorial vs a full blown corporation

I’m still waiting for someone to actually explain what payload is and why - yet again - I’ve gotta worry about a new tool that looks as though should’ve it’s attempting to back use back doors to improve React itself. Aka submit a suggestion to React or throw out a gist. What am I missing
