I made similar sweatshirts like this, but wasted alot of the 2nd shirt I bought to cut up for the pocket. Love the " recycled" shirt idea for the pocket!!

A great idea. I do know that some thrift stores send their unsold clothes to be recycled for fibres.

I've been watching a lot of documentaries on fast fashion and textile waste. If the clothing has more than one fiber content it can't really be recycled. I would rather reuse/repurpose clothing myself when possible than hope it is good enough (condition, fiber content, etc) to get reused in some way.

I want to add some hoodie pockets to my sweatshirts. I will be purchasing my own fabric to construct the pockets. What fabric will work best? Love your tutorial!!!

A tshirt fabric will work for the style I showed in this video. If you want to make a single layer pocket like a regular hoodie has with hemmed edges then get a sweatshirt weight knit.
