It’s leave pick up here in MA, I don’t have as many as this yard but having completed this for 25+ years I have learned to mulch them first with mower then add bag for pick up. First mulch grinds leaves 1/2 way then second grinds final, results in super quick pick up and needing a fraction of bags. I am amazed at how many neighbors don’t watch and follow me, last week one neighbor only got 1/2 picked up and had like 20 bags on street with about 12 this week finishing up. I was out there 1/2 the time had 4 bags last week and 1/2 bag this week because my neighbor left piles that blew in my yard. Guy across the street had about 20+ bags last week spent all day yesterday and still has a long way to go.

Oh wow, all those wonderful leaves 🍃. Last year I used my blower to round up all the leaves from my yard, the street and some from my neighbors then I switched it to vacuum and filled as many of my flower beds as possible. They mat down really well and with a small amount of fancy mulch they look great. The leaves did a better job of preventing weeds than just store bought mulch. I'm looking forward to doing it again this year and each time my soil looks healthier. I wish I could afford to hire someone to help with the big jobs but unlike your customer anyone I have ever hired to do work in my yard doesn't listen and ends up destroying butterfly gardens or whatever. They all think they are helping but if they had just listened to what I actually wanted instead of doing whatever. Thank you for actually listening to what your customer wants.

Ok...so iv'e been doing this for 23 yrs now....just a couple of points...gator G5 blades used with the flap would pulverized those leaves much,much smaller...don't use the flap until you've cut them a few times.then drop it and pulverize..then open it and spread them out..would have been 10 times smaller also, if you go every week to the property, and if you don't blow them all into a big pile its much faster...but if you must wait till there's heavy leaves, do them a section at a time..its fast and easy on you and the machine...done the right way, it is easier and faster than blowing the whole load to the curb,suckin them up , goin to the dump,payin to dump...not to mention chargeing the client ...you do great videos..very informative and i love the voiceovers...think i'm gonna buy a shirt!

I don’t have a leaf loader but I use mower to chop up leaves and then bucket them into truck as you were talking about in the video, my set up is enclosed trailer and pickup truck with dump insert, one thing I’ve found using mower to chop up leaves before loading into truck is that you can do it anywhere on a property if backyard is tight access and can’t blow all to truck with leaf loader if I had one

I know this is the wrong way to start off a messenge but please don't think I'm being disrespectful. I have a Gravely Zero Turn and I have the Mulch Kit Bolted Under My Deck. I wholeheartedly agree with what you said when it comes to a tall wet lawn, wet leaves, and lawn clippings but when it comes to leaves, I leave my deck at 4.5 inches because that's as high as mine goes, and I slowly mulch them down to 1 inch. About 2 or 3 weeks ago My neighbor across the street was outside putting leaves into a lawn trash bag and on her hands and knees doing it. Anyway I went over there and told her that's the wrong way to do it and to mow / mulch them in. Then I got feeling sorry for her and I got my zero turn out. Once I started mulching them I realized the crabgrass was taller than the leaves in most areas. Anyway I mulched it all in and it looked nice, but the sad thing is I didn't even get a thank you.

That lady may go out later & rake up some of those mulched leaves & add them to her flowerbeds & raised beds. Have you ever asked her if she would like some of them blown into an area to make a leaf mold (mulch/compost) pile? Not sure how much it costs each time you have to go dump leaves after a large job, but you could check your area for any organic farms. Someone might love to have those leaves just like how some love to get free wood chips. You could invent the “mulched leaves drop service”. lol

This is what I do for my lawn at home. I used to rake and tarp them into the tree line, the yard looked fine and all but with .75 acres and having a property line consisting oak/maple woods, well it's a lot of work and when it's piled up in the treeline a lot of it blows back in the yard. I tried the mulch kit on my 42" and it worked awesome but it was way to hard on the mower and I still had to rake and blow to thin the piles out. I've found just side discharging after all the leaves fall with the deck a little higher than I mow, I can start at one end of my yard and make loops. Cut it towards the trees, go over about 3 mower widths and blow it back to the next line I'm going to cut 2 widths back and just progress to the end of the yard. What stays in the grass stays, what makes it to the trees goes there and the rest gets blown away as dust. I'm left with a fairly clean lawn with a good fertilizer bed to insulate the ground over winter and decompose in the spring. It's not thick enough to choke out the grass but enough to help out next season. It actually takes me longer than tarping them but I don't have anything blowing back in and it's less effort. It's also kinda fun shredding up piles of leaves too.

You mentioned tipping. Is it typical for a client to tip? I mean they've signed a contract already, it seems interesting to me that they would tip above and beyond that. Like you say these services are not cheap. How much do you get tipped, er, typically?
@LawnCareJuggernaut6 ай бұрын
It's not often that people tip but it's alot like going to a restaurant and buying a meal for a set price and then leaving a tip. It's just a way for someone to show to the person working that they did great work and I like that idea. Here is where I disagree with a tip. It should never be looked at as a mandatory by the business, employee or the client. I think it bs that some business pay their employee crap pay and use them getting tips as a reason to justify it. I also thing it's bs for the employee to think it's mandatory. It should always be something that someone gives based off of what they can and what the personally rate the service. If employees ask for higher pay and the employer is expected to pay more per hour and the client then has to pay more for a product or service then tipping should not be expected. That's just my opinion
