Hi everybody, I'm back again with a very easy and useful jazz guitar lesson about the modern jazz sound. No wasted time, straight to the point as always. You can see all the fingerings in the video, so you can start immediately. Now grab your guitar and start practicing, enjoy the music, all the best from Germany.

Paying it forward book recommendation - I just saw Wynton Marsalis at the Massey Hall in Toronto…and someone I met there recommended a book that describes the Jazz vibration as an altered state: “Man Being Volume 2: Go to the Light”. It covers everything from Jazz/Music, dreams, death, the afterlife, time travel, reincarnation, extraterrestrials, Ancient civilizations, Atlantis, Egyptians and the Pyramids. Blew my mind. Highly recommend it. Excerpt: “Jazz is not an accidental art form. There are frequencies in jazz composition that are directing you toward the time travel experience”. - Chapter 9, Man Being Volume 2

Very useful, and clear lesson which inspired me to start practising immediately upon watching! You put a great jazz flavour not just in your arrangements, but even your practice routines. Is there any rule or 'best time' to put in a chromatic run? I see this in a lot of your arrangements... but I never know when to do chromatic runs in my own improvisations.
@AchimKohl-JazzGuitar2 жыл бұрын
Hi Nigel, there are no specific rules for chromatic approach, but if you use it to much you will loose the tonality of the comping chords. All the best

Hi Achim, I have been watching your channel for years. I have concluded that out of the Duesenberg, the Collings, and the Gibson, I like the sound of the Gibson the best. The Collings is fine but not as pleasing as the Gibson. The Duesenberg is too bright and sharp for my tastes. Nice video - thank you!
@AchimKohl-JazzGuitar2 жыл бұрын
My favorite guitar is the Collings, it's a very light weighted guitar easy to play. But it depends on what style of music I'm playing. The Duesenberg is not really a jazz guitar, but pretty good for comping and funky stuff. Best regards from Germany
