Hi Grace - I see what your saying about the color of the flowers changing. I tried it on a soap that was already cured a bit, then I placed a coat of clear M & P and now after 2 more weeks they are still beautiful colors. I also did it with a coat of clear M & P then I placed the flowers then another thin coat of M & P and it is also still the same color. I read all the remarks and would love to see if what was suggested works. Ill wait for another video from you if you try any of these suggestions, I think it was the reaction of the uncured soap that changed the colors. I dont now for sure. I just know it worked for me - I love your work and am always inspired by you. Thank you!!

Sherry that is soooo cool!!! I am really happy to hear that you found a way to keep the flowers pretty. I am going to pin your comment to the top so everyone can see it. Thank you so much for your valuable feedback and comment. 💝 I really appreciate it. I agree with you about the flowers reacting with the uncured soap. So next time, I would probably choose your second way to be safe, but both seem to work well. Way to go, Sherry!🤗🤗🤗

NOTE: The flower on this soap definitely discolored as the soap cured. In the video, you can see the color change on some of the soaps in the picture of all the soaps together. The bottom left three soaps show a dark flower rather than the bright purple that I started with. The colors of all have become darker over time. I think they are still pretty with the dark flower on the green, black and yellow background. They add a level of detail to the botanical look that would be difficult to obtain with painting. But just be aware that the bright colors will not stay bright but will turn dark.
@lizh.15806 жыл бұрын
Hi Ms. Grace, just a small info that you might find useful. Since herbs are used to make natural colorants. These colors will fade and morph - travel to your crafts! But the great things about dried flowers is that they won't go moldy as real friends do when they are added into your liquid soap, soap bar, and spray. 💐 Let us know if any questions!
@FromGracetoYou6 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the info Liz!!💝

Wow! Definitely inspiring in itself. Thanks for the knowledge you pass on of convection, etc. I wonder, if the dried flowers were surrounded with a small amount of clear melt & pour first... would the bright colors hold up much better? Thank You for bringing us along :)
@FromGracetoYou6 жыл бұрын
Cheryl I LOVE that you are a problem solver. You and Sheron Brewer inspired me to try something that seems to work quite well. I took some pressed dried baby's breath, dipped them in soap mica (mainly pink and purple to try) and then dipped them in Melt and Pour soap. They have the bright color of the mica (and you can choose any color) and the flower itself can turn brown all it wants-it is covered with mica and the mica touches the soap. I rinsed with water to get off any extra mica then let them dry. The nice thing is that they make an "instant" bouquet of flowers that looks, can I say, natural? And it is quite easy to do. I might show it as part of a future video. I really appreciate your comment and encouragement!! Thank you.💝

How lovely! Would it be better to place flowers after 24-48 hours when soap is still soft so they won't discolor so fast?
@FromGracetoYou6 жыл бұрын
I love it that you are a problem solver and thinking of ways to make this better!!! I think it is the saponification that causes the browning (at least that is what I've read) and so, as long as it is still reacting, the flowers aren't "safe". A couple of others have suggested putting Melt and pour on the soap, then the flowers, then more melt and pour. That made me try something else yesterday. I took some pressed dried baby's breath, dipped them in soap mica (mainly pink and purple to try) and then dipped them in Melt and Pour soap. I then put them on parchment paper. They have the bright color of the mica (and you can choose any color) and the flower itself can turn brown all it wants-it is covered with mica and the mica touches the soap. I haven't put them on soap yet, I will put a few on a soap in the future to see how I like them. Thank you so much for your feedback, Poet💝! Keep your ideas coming!

Hello! Yes, I thought the flowers might turn dark. Just wondering about brushing clear MP, place flowers on top and then second layer of MP? Not quite the same concept tho. Thanks for this video!
@FromGracetoYou6 жыл бұрын
Thank you.💝 Yes, that might make it better. I have read that the flowers discolor with M&P eventually too though. I have thought to "paint" them with mica soap color, then melt and pour before sticking them on top of the cold process soap. But then it wouldn't be very easy lol. Still, I think I will try it...

Wonderful, that sounds like a great solution! Looking forward to seeing them. I use mica on so many things for soaps..painting directly on soap, painting MP embeds, even candies for soap and bath fizzy cupcakes, although never dried flowers! Will definitely have to try. Your soaps are so beautiful, the colors & designs are stunning!

Hi Lorraine💝🤗 Yes it fully saponified (became soap with a pH of 10 or less). You must check out my free ebooks starting with ebook1 (just click the tabs at the top of my website www.fromgracetoyou.com . All of my recipes are there. This soap is my usual shea silk recipe (the recipe is also in the description of this video :)). How I keep the batter liquid is covered in my book.

Hello Grace. you keep your oils lite for the pouring technique ,how long does it take before you can cut your soaps? I love your soaps they are beautiful.
@FromGracetoYou6 жыл бұрын
You know, what I often do is put the soap in my little soap oven at 170 deg F for 1 hour then let it sit overnight. Then, if it seems at all soft, I put it back in the oven for another hour at 170. Finally, if I want to be extra safe, I will put it in the freezer for a bit before cutting it. I have often made a soap in the morning and cut it that evening using this method. Thanks, Bobby💝

It's very impressed me so much . I 'll try to do for my mom. But I would like to know that what did you put on the soap (the white bottom) before placing the flower. By the way thank you so much for making this lovely video. ^^
@FromGracetoYou5 жыл бұрын
Hi Coco Kiwi💝🤗 I am not sure what your question is, but I have the flowers on white paper before putting the flowers onto the soap. After trying this, I would recommend dipping the flowers in clear melt and pour soap before applying the flowers to the soap if you want to maintain a more brilliant color.
@000qsxft5 жыл бұрын
From Grace to You Thank you for your recommend. About my question , What did you put on the soap before placing the flowers? I saw you were holding a white bottle then spotted on the soap. ( Sorry about my uncleared question ^^)

OH! I had soap in that squeeze bottle. It was green soap and I was just adding some green "stems" before I put the flowers on. That is completely optional.💝🤗

Grace, Grace, Grace, you are Amazing! Please tell me; do people use your soap or just buy them as collectible art?
@FromGracetoYou6 жыл бұрын
Ha ha at first my friends and extended family wouldn't use them, but now they do (except some of the big soap painting soaps-they won't cut those). I try to make the soaps to be fun to USE -with pretty swirls and nice fragrances-plus they really are good for your skin! So you can only enjoy them to the fullest by using them. It is like those beautiful artistic desserts people make. They are meant to be eaten! I have had a few tell me that they won't use certain ones though. Honestly, I would be hesitant to use some of them-like the White Horse or even the Rainbow Lorikeet(although that one will be a very fun one to use with its swirl). And I can't bring myself to cut Letting Go...but someday I might:D Thank you for your fun question😀💝
