Top quality video. Loved the way you quickly faded it forward (like when boiling the water for the Rye). Keep it up, really enjoying these videos.

Wow, I was very surprised with the rice. My money was on Rye. I'm definitely checking out your other video on the rice, too, I saw someone else ask for the link, and you posted it as a comment. Very nice.

@AJollyJammer Yeah, rice is amazing. It feeds the world and your mushrooms, it turns out :D It's also super cheap and very easily available. Doesn't give off weird smells while cooking (a consideration if you live in an apartment) and colonises very fast. I think it's the superior grain for sure! I'm currently trying out some barley as per a viewer recommendation. I'm eager to see how it compares to rice. I wanna give popcorn another go as well. I've seen people have amazing results with corn, but I don't think I reflected that so well in this video.

@BigMush9000 it's pretty much good. Range of motion is the only thing that hasn't really improved. I did some lab work last night everything seems good enough to get back to it. Getting ready to get some footage for a video so hopefully i can get it done soon. 🙂

@depraved420 glad to read you're on the mend, man. I reckon that range of motion will slowly come back! I'm stoked you're back in the lab man. I'm super keen for your look at contaminants. I lost two jars a couple of weeks ago. Filter got wet and the next morning it was full of colours and smell. Boooooooo

Can you link your rice video?
@BigMush900010 күн бұрын
Sure thing! kzbin.info/www/bejne/iIHUpJ1notOqba8si=WNmMHmDXuD812KY5 I start preparing around 4.20 into the video. Just a heads up, the rice I use is par boiled, so prep time is super short. I'm not sure what rice you have access to, but it's important to taste test. You're going for a kinda crunchy, half cooked consistency! Good luck

Ah you're welcome mate. It makes me happy whenever people like yourself get something out of these videos. I'd suggest trying to get your hands on some liquid culture. It's easy to multiply culture and create a supply for yourself. Once you have culture.....you can grow many, many mushrooms without fear of mistakes or contamination. The first video on this channel shows you how to make and expand liquid culture.

I came here to say the same thing on one of his last videos, if not the last video, I pointed out that the audio wasn't very clear over the music and he commented back to let me know that he had worked on it in the next video, and the audio quality was used much better. .. Time to break and shake.
@BigMush90009 күн бұрын
@bmoneybby You're not wrong, Mate. I usually shake up my myc as soon as I inoculate it. Works the same, but you don't risk smashing jar trying to break up the dense clumps! I reckon its a little gentler on the mycelium as well. I didn't do it for this video as I wanted to show the myc spreading and fanning out across the grains :D

Great video, just wanted to chime in and say not to stick the needle in as deep. Makes the flame sterilization not as effective since you can't sterilize that high up. Just stick it in enough to squirt some in and pull it out.

It's honestly very similar to Sorghum. Similar size and innoculation points but i think it's easier to hydrate and for mycelium consumption. The key is Using pearled barley not whole grain. It can make it much easier for mycelium to consume it, much easier to hydrate the grains, while still having a strong outter shell to prevent bursting. I used the goya brand barley, dunked for about 18-24 hours. Left to air dry for a couple of hours. PC for about 2 hours and they're ready to use. Only 2 burst grains i can see in a 2lb bag. (This is all speculation tho so i would love to see how effective it is for other people)

@BigMush9000 i tried another batch, i did 1 hour 45 mins on 15 psi and found it more appropriate. You don't want too much pressure so let the weight move slowly. Hope you find it as easy to use as i did.
