How to make easy needle felted flowers. A tutorial for beginners. Great for so many crafts and jewellery making. These are so simple and look great, especially if you make lots!

Fab tutorial, id like to try this. I have some fondant Shape cutters, so may be able to try these. Wonder if I could use a foam stamping pad, or is that too dense?
@thecraftcuckoo9 жыл бұрын
Thanks Angie. Glad it was useful for you. And yes, fondant cutters would be fine. This can really be done with any shaped cutter :) I think a stamp pad might be a bit too shallow and blunt the needle, and I found normal sponges a bit too squishy but you could certainly try. You can find felting sponges or felting brushes for around £5 on amazon but sometimes it works out cheaper to get a felting kit which includes a sponge and needles and felting wool. I hope to do some more felting tutorials in the new year. I hope this helps, and that you have fun trying this out :)

Lovely tutorial! Can I ask how u could attach these flowers to an outfit or bag? Thanks

Absolutely adorable! How long would it take a brand new, no experienced person to do this?
@thecraftcuckoo7 жыл бұрын
This is actually a good project for a beginner. Needle felting does take time. I think it could take maybe twenty minutes per flower but the results are so cute :) Good luck with it.

Ok, I've made about 10 of them and they are so much fun! How soon/often should the needle be replaced though? I feel as though it's already getting dull.
@thecraftcuckoo7 жыл бұрын
Oh that's good to hear. So glad you are enjoying it. With the needles it really depends on the quality of the needle and the kind of needle. Really you do get a feel for it so if it is feeling dull and you are not getting the ease and control you like then just replace them. There are various types of needle for different jobs, so have a look on google and see which ones might be best for the type of projects you are doing. Hope that helps :)

I saw maqaroon do felting and i wanted to try it but without the kits. Where do you buy your equipment and felt? -Rory. :-)
@thecraftcuckoo10 жыл бұрын
Hi Rory! I got a bag of various coloured roving, the needles and the foam all from a company called Heidi Feathers. She does kits but she also does just the felt or whatever you need. I hope that helps :)

Thank you for your help! Once I've gotten more money I'll see about ordering, i might actually buy a small kit before buying multiple of the same item. Thanks again! :-)

Yes I think the kits are great to start with. You can make lots of small things and have a variety of colours so you can make whatever you think of! Then when you know what you enjoyed making you can buy dedicated items and colours. :)

how do I get such perfect rounded edges? It's kind of hard to see on the video
@thecraftcuckoo8 жыл бұрын
+juniper80 Hi. Any bits that are not as rounded as you would like are the bits you need to poke. So for example if there is a corner that is too pokey then just poke the tip with the needle to round it off. If the edge is too sharp poke along the edge tip to smooth it out. I hope that helps? If not let me know and I will do a video to explain it better for you. Thanks for watching :)

+The Craft Cuckoo Thanks, do you poke at an angle to round it?
@thecraftcuckoo8 жыл бұрын
Yes just poke at any angle or point to round it. Good luck and let me know if you have any other problems :)
