🔔🔔ANNOUNCEMENT 🔔🔔Hey everyone! Since this project, my love for pleated lampshades have not gone away. I've been loving the more "gathered" pleated lampshades lately and created a new DIY that you can check out here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/d3fVkGWhZch-aqM

I wish you had explained how to calculate how much fabric is needed depending on the measurement of the shade 😩
@Euniceathome Жыл бұрын
Hi, I totally should've! I would start with at least 2x longer fabric than the circumference. It really depends on how big you want your pleats - I started with the full length of how much I bought because I wasn’t sure and ended up using all of it! Hope that helps and thanks for watching 😊

Do you think a less thick fabric would be better? Worse? Any other changes or non-changes you feel strongly about after living with the lamp shade for a while? Do you think stitching the lampshade onto the base shade was possible?
@Euniceathome3 жыл бұрын
The only thing I’d do differently is just ensure that the lines are more evenly spaced as I’m hot gluing the shade on, but besides that - the shade is still in great condition. You could definitely sew if that’s your preference, but because the fabric was pretty thick, hot glue sufficed. Less thick fabric would be easier to stiffen but might show the hot glue through especially if it’s light in color. The thicker, the more generously you’ll need to spray the stiffener (it should feel soaked) Thanks for watching 🥰

Your lamp shade is beautiful. My lamp shades are almost 30 years old and the fabric is crumbling. I have been trying to find a replacement shade for 2 years. As you mentioned, it can be costly to replace lamp shades. Replacing the shades for my 2 lamps would cost $75.00 to $100.00 each and they are hard to find with a 21-22" base diameter. I am not crazy about what I have found so far. I don't want to buy new lamps because it would be hard to find something I like that would go with my older furniture. I am going to try your procedure. Thank you for sharing!
