You just made my day! This base gives me so much waffle confidence! I never knew waffles can be made from these two simple ingredients. I tried substituting water with soy milk and added some pumpkin spice and coconut flour. It was an absolute joy. Thank you!

Thanks for this great recipe!! I’ve been looking for a vegan waffle recipe for years now. They always were boring, tasteless, too hard or not really done. This recipe is great!! It tastes delicious, they are ligt and soft, sweet but not too sweet, also healthy and they are soooo easy to make!! So thank you!!

I made these for breakfast today for the first time. Soooo yummy. My husband and I went vegetarian in June 2019 and WFPB in November. He grew up on a farm so he was all about meat, dairy, eggs. You’ve made this transition easy for him. He just finished telling me how good these waffles were. And we had the nacho cheese sauce last night with WFPB chili.

I broke out my waffle maker (which I have never used or even made waffles before) and made these this morning and they did not disappoint. I used 1/2 cup of soy milk, 1/2 cup water, 1 TBSP each of chia seeds and flax seed and 1TSP of vanilla. The waffle mix was on the thicker side (I assume because of the chia seeds and flax seed meal). I made 4 waffles that came out nice and fluffy. NO sticking! YAY! I mixed up 1 cup of organic mixed berries (from Costco) and heated them on the stove to make a syrup. Perfect! So easy to make and so delicious with the fruit syrup. Brittany, not sure if you got a new waffle maker yet but I have an Oster waffle maker that makes 4 waffles. It appears to be a good waffle maker (first time using it) as the waffles did not stick. I did flip them once (to cook edges of top side) and they fit perfectly back into the waffle squares they were in. Thank you for another easy and wonderful recipe.

Looks great, Brittany! I do something very similar with buckwheat and love them. I have a Cuisinart non-stick waffle maker and it makes 4 waffles. Like that you add the chia & flax both into your mix. Must try that. I think my favourite topping is warmed up applesauce over a bit of nut-butter, but maple syrup is mighty nice too! Thanks for sharing!

You have impressed me as always! I am originally from Alabama, moved to Maryland almost 4 years ago AND I am a new vegan! Thanks to you and your videos and of course the books you recommend, I am doing good! Chicken an waffles are a must at brunches and dinners in Alabama and I was wondering if a savory waffle would work, and use your cauliflower chicken wing bites? Is there any other recipe you have for “chicken” since I still have not taken a liking to cauliflower? I’m trying!

Cheryl Cochran Hey! I’m from the South, too. Perhaps you could try crispy baked tofu nuggets? Coat pressed & patted dry tofu squares (nugget shaped) into your choice of flour mixed w/ your favorite savory spices. Then roll the pieces in plain almond milk... roll them next in crushed, plain, cornflakes or crushed Rice Krispies (I like the brown rice type.) Bake on a parchment paper lined tray...no oil...@375* for 30 mins. or until brown & crispy. (Turn pieces over 1/2 way through.). I find this is a great sub for chicken. And some folks freeze, thaw, press, drain, pat dry their tofu before prepping. The freezing helps replicate the texture of chicken. It works; I’ve tried it. Congratulations to you on your wonderful journey!! I’m never going back to the Standard (Southern) American way I ‘used to’ eat. My health has improved too much, and I feel way too good to go back to poisoning myself. 👋

Tks Brit ... I bought a cute new waffle maker in the flower shape. Made this recipe a good few times, doubled it and it made 4 big waffles, which i jst heat back in the waffle iron for a minute or two the nxt day then serve wth banana nice-cream made wth a tsp almond butter. Toooo devine! Was happy as Larry ... but last time i made them it was an epic flop 😡 ... they separated and the top stuck to the top and bottom to the bottom 😦 disaster. The waffle iron says not to brush wth a little oil .... Any advice sweetpea ? This has become my fave late lunch every day 💟😘

I’ve tried these few times I’m not sure why they are sticking and breaking apart when I open iron. I’ve used coconut oil to grease waffle iron. Work wonderful as pancakes but would love to perfect waffle as I can leave them and not have to stand over stove

You need to make sure the waffle iron is 100% heated before and then if they are still sticking, let it go for one more min after the green light comes on

the trick with making fat-free waffles is to get the waffle iron good and hot, and then to "thoroughly cook the waffles". Try a 5 minute cooking time, or more.

I have a Presto with Duraceramic non stick, so no PFOE or PTFE contamination. So far very good. Made flat bread today, just put a small round of my prepared Whole Wheat doing, also made Chickpea Flour Waffles, and placed a whole slightly baked potato and pressed! Nothing sticks, and no spray or oil used.
