Easy Off Oven Cleaner vs Dollar Tree Brand: Which one I Will Use

I love Easy off oven cleaner, but it's kind of expensive. I wanted to see if it was any better than Dollar Tree oven cleaner. I tested both on a difficult oven mess to see which one really worked the best. This is fun to watch and the results surprised me.

My mom used to clean apartments once people would move out. She would clean with easy off. All the fumes over a period of time affected her lungs. I remember the smell and how we could barely breath and all the coughing.

Fyi the reason the heavy duty has fumes and works better is it has lye in it . Either brand are great paint strippers also. Cheaper and better than the paint strippers sold at stores.

My Dollar Tree does carry a Fume Free version! The can is blue similar to the Easy Off. Ask the manager of your Dollar Tree to order it.

I used a razor blade to scrape off the heavy baked on spilled juice, then I use my oven cleaner overnight. No problem!

The Dollar Tree cleaner cleans great, but holy cow, yes, the fumes are insane. I’m very tolerant to chemicals as my mom was a house cleaner, but even for me, I felt like I couldn’t breathe with the Dollar Tree brand and it had my gasping for fresh air.

I used the Dollar Tree stuff today, and it worked like a charm. The blue can Easy Off was a PITA. So much scrubbing! Scrub Free all the way;

Get the DG home fume free oven cleaner. It's safe for self- cleaning ovens. General Dollar has it for 2.95.

I'm a guy. I have used dollar stuff and followed instructions. What I do is open windows and go away for six hours. The money I save buys dinner. Also you can use paint mask respirator to help. I do understand why others would go with fume free version.

My oven is white and it has this stickiness to it and I tried soap and water and a towel doesn't work and I've used a scrubing Pad but it scrapes off the paint what do you recommend?

A few things can remove that. Magic erasers, dawn platinum powerwash. My favorite is using a steam cleaner if you have one.

I had te same black spots.. All you gotta do is heat up oven just to make it warm then turn it off then spray and 123 it was so easy to remove

Fume free for me too, or the self clean setting on the oven isn't too bad and it's non-toxic! My Maytag has Aqualift technology.👍

The dollar tree after you have sprayed and go back to clean it wont make you cough. I cough like that a little too, on the original spraying from the can. The spraying introduces some vapors into the air that are irritating, but it does clean well. I have also used Dollar tree oven cleaner to clean off metal greasy grimy carboned up engine and car parts, works very very well, including on aluminum intake manifolds taken off the car. I am right now using it to clean up some greasy bilge wood in my old wooden boat. I tested the cleaner on some wood, let it sit overnight and the wood was not harmed. That kind of cleaner turns greases, fats and oil into soap. My plan is to then spray it out, wash with dish soap, then neutralize with white vinegar sprayed on the wood, then do a final rinsing of the wood. Hope it gets all the greasy dirt out of the wood well enough for some gluing and painting.

Not to scare anyone but I used oven off as directed. I didnt use my oven for a few days. Finally when i did use it my oven caught on fire. I was able to contain it quickly but yah im never doing that again ill try natrual methods from now on.

Good job.I always use Easy -Off and do not spend on such a dollar store because I know that these cheap sprays do not work. I do as you do only after wiping with paper I always pull out these bottom panels and clean it in my laundry sink. If you have a screw you can unscrew them and put them in a safe place so as not to lose. If my bottom panel is very dirty, I take it outside and together with the grates spray on paper and then clean them with water and dish soap. I also clean the whole oven.

I would use a mask when using any oven cleaners - It's really strong stuff and even if you have a fume free product, they may be covering up the smaller amounts of aerosols with the scent.

I have a almost like new Dacor oven someone is tossing cause they got a new oven will try it . Being pregnant you should wear a mask even with other stuff just because it's not bothering you doesn't mean the fumes aren't feeding you're baby something. FYI

You should have sprayed the bottom, then... You should lay a dish towel over the foam, and then... You should have soaked the top of the dish towel with more cleaner. Let it sit until the dish towel almost dries out. Then, wipe up the results. There are 4 factors in cleaning... 1. Time of Cleaner Dwell, 2) Temperature of cleaner, 3) Technique of cleaning used, and 4) Mechanical agitation (i.e. scrubbing). You messed up on steps 1 and 3.
