My son doesn’t like school too much. He said he wants to be homesechooled. I think I will go this route!

We did Phonics first and my 5 year old is easily able to decode the words in the primer lessons. She is on lesson 40 of the primer now. This is still an option for parents who don't want to teach sight words. There is still a lot of value in this learn to read curriculum. Even when child reads phonetically words naturally become sight words. The repetition in the primer speeds that process.

The curriculum is called Primer? We have started using Teach your child how to read in 100 easy steps and I'm starting to second guess on if I like it. I do like the whole phonics first though which is why I ask!

That’s great!🎉🎉 With my first child I did sight words for a few lessons, then phonics & back to sight words. Now with my second child I’m doing the phonics first. I like how easy it is to adjust to your child & how you want to teach them to read.💖 Thanks for sharing your experience with this curriculum.🥰

The curriculum is called Learn to Read by Easy Peasy All in One Homeschool. It’s divided into different sections. The McGuffey Primer is one of the sections.

We are new to homeschooling. We are in Florida. We are thinking of homeschooling our granddaughter that is starting kindergarten. But is sort of confusing with so much information. We are in our 60s but confident that we can pull it off with a concise route. Will this curriculum cover most bases or should we supplement it with other resources. Any help would be greatly appreciated. We have been researching for 5 days straight and starting to panic. We really want to do this for our granddaughter but in the right way. Thanks in advance.

That is so awesome that you want to homeschool!💖 I know it’s very overwhelming researching but once you’ll figure everything out you’ll love it!🥰 You don’t have to supplement anything, unless you want to. Easy Peasy Kindergarten just focuses on Reading, Writing, & Math. If you want to add in other subjects, like art; music; geography; science, you definitely can. Those subjects you can do once a week. Easy Peasy does have those subjects. They recommend starting in 1st grade but if you want to do them now go ahead. You can go on their website & create a account. So that way all the subjects will be organized for each day. This is their website: allinonehomeschool.com Amazon also has really good resources if you wanted to do something additional but again you don’t have to. I do a lot of read a louds & Unit Studies. Also check out: Hslda’s website hslda.org/post/how-to-comply-with-floridas-homeschool-law Here’s a video explaining Homeschooling in Florida: m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/f3vaZIuEediZjck Easy Peasy also has a Facebook group for Florida families it’s called: Easy Peasy Florida & they have a Kindergarten one too on Facebook. Just search Easy Peasy Kindergarten. Those groups are really great at answering questions! I hope this was helpful.💖

Are these the only kindergarten lessons? I’m new to this and so confused on the website what I should be getting for my kindergartner.
@LovedbyJesus232 жыл бұрын
Yes. For Kindergarten, Easy Peasy just focuses on Reading, Writing, and Math. If you go to the website, scroll down to My Ep & create an account. From there select Kindergarten & it will automatically add these three subjects. And it tells you what lesson you’re doing each day! If you don’t want to do everything on the computer, buy the books I showed in the video. The only thing is for math you have to check daily online because there’s not always a worksheet. I hope that helps! Good Luck!🍀💖

My son is 5 and in Kindergarten so this is his first time going to school and my first time homeschooling. We’re in Maryland and for all grade levels art, social studies, reading, language arts, science, health/physical education, and math are required so how do we supplement for the subjects not included in the workbooks/ online lessons?
@LovedbyJesus233 жыл бұрын
You can choose different curriculums for the other subjects. It doesn’t have to be expensive. Check Amazon for Evan Moor & DK books for Social Studies & Science Kindergarten. You could even do Unit Studies. Art can probably just be like 20 minutes of painting or doing some sort of craft. And PE can be an hr of outside play. Definitely check out the Easy Peasy’s Facebook Group for Maryland m.facebook.com/groups/646550658719357?group_view_referrer=search Copy & Paste your comment there. They probably have a lot advice. I don’t want to tell you the wrong thing. Good Luck this year💖💖💖

I am in that group and did ask about that. Some of the responses were that I should do unit studies and stuff like that or do the level one stuff in a way that’s easier for a Kindergartner. I just wasn’t sure how much of those other subjects is required ( weekly, monthly, etc) Thanks so much for replying to me! 🙂
@LovedbyJesus233 жыл бұрын
You can do them for however long you want & whenever. It’s just that they require those subjects. I checked the hslda website & it just says ‘“sufficient duration” to implement your instructional program.’ So you can do science one day, art the next, social studies another etc. Or whatever works for your family. Just keep stuff for your portfolio. Let me know if you have more questions.🥰🥰🥰

Can you do kindergarten completely offline like grade 1 and 2?
@LovedbyJesus23 Жыл бұрын
Only the Learn to Read & Handwriting can be done offline. For math you would have to check in everyday online. The author Lee Giles, has another curriculum that’s completely offline for all kindergarten subjects. It’s called Genesis Curriculum. I’ve never tried it though.

Sight words are not good to teach
@LovedbyJesus23 Жыл бұрын
Everyone learns sight words because that’s how the English language is. Not every word can be decoded phonetically. Some curriculum may call them “high frequency” words. That’s just another term for sight words. You have to learn both sight words & phonics.
