Another great video Pam. I do enjoy them I get some good ideas and tips from you. Barry Saunders asks about nosey compressors I use an airbrush compressor with a 3 ltr tank,(£70.00 on eBay). It gets my pressure pot unto 60psi.The pressure pot is a converted paint pressure pot also from eBay ( like the harbour freight ones the use in the US. This runs fairly quiet and my pot doesn't leak so once it's pressurised the pump doesn't run again, although I do leave it on just in case.. I hope this helps some people who might want to try casting without the expense of a large compressor. I hope you don't mind me writing this!

@@Highlandboxes I'm glad you found it useful Pam. Just one point I didn't mention... It does take a couple of minutes to get up to pressure.

That Lizard Blank Mold works like a charm. 👌 Those pen blanks are amazing colours, Pam. 👍 They kind of remind me of Wintery Japanese water colour rice paper paintings...

Hello... i am looking for the specific lizard blank you have in this video and can't find it on there web sight. what are the measurements of this blank. TY

looks good, up till now ive been hot gluing the cone to the bottom of the mold i made from nylon , clear cast has an open time of 40 mins or so, or 35 deg ish, ive never had the degree of colour separation that you have, any suggestion would be appreciated cheers Rob
@WoodsleeSummercraftwoodturning5 жыл бұрын
oh and ive more recently started using clear slow, 12 mins open time, still not the degree of separation you have :-(

Very original pen blanks. Thanks for sharing. Your videos are very inspiring. I'm sure you mentioned it in one of your videos before but I cannot find it (back). How much does the compression tank cost?
@Highlandboxes5 жыл бұрын
compressor around £100 thank you Hans :-)
@hansdegroot85495 жыл бұрын
@@Highlandboxes Thank you for your quick answer. But now, when reading it, I wonder if I've put my question correctly. I did not mean the compressor itself but the "barrel" in which you've put the Lizard Mould in order to get rid of the air bubbles. I'm sorry bothering you this way.

Hi pam great video I have one question, do you treat the pine cones with anything before casting?
@Highlandboxes5 жыл бұрын
Hi Sam i just dry them in an oven overnight before casting. I did stabilise them at the start but it didnt make any difference to the turning of them. Many thanks :-)

Great vid Pam. Do you keep a record of the amount of resin you use for certain blanks? I always forget to write it down. I suppose if your producing lots of pen blanks it will become second nature?
@Highlandboxes5 жыл бұрын
Hi Mark for most of my castings i now have a good idea of the resin needed it comes with casting lots. Many thanks :-)
