Gotta be honest...at 69 and only cooking for myself I find I am far less picky about what I'm eating. I no longer have the desire to spend hours cooking, and at the prices these days I am just happy to be eating.

@@fourdayhomestead2839 I used to love to cook and bake. On Sundays I would cook several things so as not to have to cook everyday when I came home from work. I'm retired now, so you'd think it would be no big deal now. But somehow I just don't have it in me. Not that I do fast food or convenience foods....just have adapted to a less fussy menu.

I agree. I cook something that I'm willing to eat multiple time. I even go out to eat and see how many more meals I can make from the left overs. Yesterday it was fish filets and Cheddar's, and I'll get 3 meals out of it.

My grandma would use crockpot on Sunday to cook Sunday family dinners. She would remind us that it is the Lord's Day and we have all week to prepare for a day of rest. We couldn't even wash our clothes with out her giving us grief about not respecting the Lord on His day. Your crockpot meals brings back to those days . I miss her and love her

I've covered the sink in my guest bathroom (more like a seldom used room, unless we have guests, in which I obviously don't do it then.), with the top of an old wood TV tray. Then I turn on the exhaust fan, I'm usually doing this with my slow cooker, which puts off a good bit of heat. My electric pressure cookers, put off less heat. I know it's weird, but that's me 🤪

I’m in agreement with Dusty, I love my chicken salad and tuna salad extra creamy. My mom used to make chicken salad when I was a kid and I really didn’t like it back then. I shared my birthday with my aunt who always asked my mom to make it for her birthday. I can remember crying when I was like 10 years old and it was like the third birthday in a row that I didn’t like the meal. The next year she let me pick anything I wanted. I remember we were at my grandparents cottage in the middle of July with no A/C and she made me a baked chicken and rice dish. It really heated up the house. After that I remember we did taco salads for our birthdays. My mom made chicken salad with canned pineapple and didn’t have any celery that time and I found out I really liked it, I don’t like celery. After that she would always make it with everything I liked and put some aside for me and then finish it off with the stuff I didn’t care for. This episode really made me smile thinking about how much she loved me. This Tuesday it will be 10 years since she got up on stage for my son’s 10th birthday (the last she was here for) and sang him happy birthday, making the whole audience sing with her. She was a joyful woman. In this season of my life it’s been hard to remember the good times, thank you for bringing them front and center for me. Love to you and your wonderful family.

My mom always let us pick our birthday meal. I always picked beef stew (which my brother HATED!) And he always picked spaghetti (which I hated). We're both old now and when I reminded him of this recently, he denied it to the skies, but I know that that gave a little extra joy to each of us at the time 😁

Add a carton of Cool Whip. If you want pink lemonade pie, add a few drops of red food coloring. Put filling in the graham cracker crust and chill in the refrigerator for at least two hours. This will actually make two pies if you use the large carton of Cool Whip. Yummy!
