Good morning everyone. Can i use such a gpr to locate a treasure. I am talking about alot of gold coins. The terains that I will be using such a machine are very rough in some areas, and others are rocky. Can i still use such a device. Thanks in advance

Wonderful product Karl. What would it cost to create a GPR that could detect voids through rocky materials and concretes down to 50'? I'm an amature historian and have a need to discover voids and anomalies from 3' square to very large (like caves). Soils would have been dug out and placed back, but around 80 years old, so natural settlement and re-compaction would occur. I also need vertical capabilities. Thank you in advance!

To answer the question about 50 feet this is not a problem for a 100MHz system which is actually much easier to build than high frequency units. The only drawback is the size of the antenna which would have a combined size (transmitter and receiver) of about 4 foot by 6 foot. Pulling it with an ATV would be the answer.

I would like to see this setup in person. Is there anyway to get an in-person demo out in the Los Angeles area?

You are welcome to come to South Carolina for a demo. We will be doing some real world "find and dig" videos as well soon. Thanks, Karl

A friend of mine uses the old fashion method of finding those hidden treasures by following the rust. Though he hasn't used GPR I'd be willing to bet if he had the chance he would gladly add it to his tools of exploration so to speak.

A technical aspect of the video production. The lapel microphone could have used a wind screen.

How does it do locating underground utilities and post tensions in slabs?

Looking at application of GPR to locating gopher tunnels in conjunction with using a Rodenator so we can quickly find the burrow rather than poking the ground with an iron rod for several minutes to luck into the main tunnel. What would be most amazing is to combine the GPR with an IR that could detect the animal's heat underground and allow you to penetrate the exact part of the tunnel the animal is in. I figure this wouldn't save any money for clients due to increased equipment costs offsetting labor savings, but it would greatly increase the success rate and speed at which the operator could do a job. Ultimately the client is paying to eliminate the pest that is destroying their landscaping.
