I suggest adding at least a fan on those amplifier's heatsink, they get aircooled passively by the excursion of the woofer... but since you've removed the woofer, it doesn't get cooled anymore and may potentally kill the amplifier

There’s actually a reason why there’s usually a separate market for car audio and home theater. There’s different subwoofer types out there, sound quality “sq” and sound pressure level “spl”. You do not want a spl subwoofer in a home theater environment. To start it won’t sound as refined and most importantly some homes aren’t built to withstand such high vibrations over time. So yeah try to find something low powered yet has a good sound quality rating.

Your video popped up in my feed. And although this is a very resourceful option. You may run into resistance (ohms) issues as well as power issues. A much better solution is to do your same trick with the speaker leads from the factory subwoofer, pick up the 8” monoprice subwoofer on sale right now for $93 and run speaker cable to the high level inputs on the monoprice subwoofer amp. 🎉 that way. You can control the crossover, phase, and level of the second sub and even keep both running with no resistance issues. You’ll see a ton of powered subwoofers out there with high level inputs you can do this on everywhere I recommend the RSL Speedwoofer 10S (or 12S if you want massive bass). Otherwise monoprice sells a 10”/12” front facing and style for cheap. Basically any powered sub with high level inputs will work the same way you have the skar connected but you don’t use the Vizio sub amplifier. 🎉 good luck 🎉

You can run the sub signal to a rca line output converter. Using an Xbox 360 power brick to power an amp and then get stable power to a sub. This works well too

Man I bet that Skar sounds WORLDS better than that little sound bar sub! For my first home audio build, I used a Skar IX12 and I was completely shocked at how clean and articulate that cheap budget 12 was! The biggest downfall of the IX series (at least for the 12 inch) is that they need a ridiculous amount of airspace to perform optimally. I've seen that sub modeled on WinISD and it needed something like 10 CuFt. To get a flat response 😂

4 ohms. This will work with any 4ohm sub as long as the rms rating is low. The lower the better. If you can find a 4ohm sub that is rated at 100 watts rms that’s perfect.

Air volume as well as resonance have a lot to do with the “loudness” here.

Get yourself a high to low converter and a 12 v power supply and a car amp and it will be a million times better Lol get rid of the wife and adopt an 18 inch version 😂😂of the sub

I would suggest making a separate incloser for the amp if you want it to last and not mount it in or to the box. 90percent of plate amplifier fail this way thats why there always on ebay because of amp failure. Even if you get a plate amplifier a separate incloser will prolong the life that and keeping the amp kool. That sub could use twice the power then that amp. Id suggest getting the cheapest 100w at least and mount it separately. It will last longer than any store brand power subwoofer 💯🫡😉✌️

I would try loading that sub against one of your walls 😄 try rotating it so the sub faces the wall and leave a couple inches. This should fill the room even better 😁 Love seeing this content, I’ve just built a car audio sub for my Monitor Audio speakers and I don’t know why people don’t do it more often 🤣 sounds insane!

Or just throw out that trash.... get a real set up.... go used... go big.... just my main speakers are 4 10 inch woofers a box.... 4 tweeters a box... i have 3 sets... payed 350 for cheap set & 1k for my other then 1.2k for my last set.... running of a Yamaha htr-6290 worth 500 all day.... till i get to setting up my Yamaha z11 worth 500- 5k cash... i also have psb 800i dual 8 inch woofers worth $400 all day.... i also have psb golds... single 10... + a 6.5.... sound amazing. Worth a thousand all day... but all psbs need a sub... for the low lows.. or 100+ db at 35hz & under...
