Hi love your channel which I watch daily and follow. Had a question regarding solos. I am working on the Bb version of I'm in the mood for love but struggling a bit on my solo. I've taken the core keys eg Bb G G# C F EB D as my guide and decide modes would be the way forward. Any support would be appreciated. Thanks!
@smoothjazzsaxophonelessons9226 Жыл бұрын
Thanks man, so let me see if I got this right… you are trying to use the modes of the key of B-flat, right? The notes I see up here are not the right notes for that if I am reading into this correctly. An example of the modes of Bb would be: 1. Bb C D D# F G A Bb 2. C D D# F G A Bb C…..etc You basically start on the next note(in order of the scale), and you play all the notes of the scale, from that point until you reach its octave. My suggestion also, would be….try to stop thinking about what you’re doing as much, and experiment more with the modes by trying to make them sing, with simple ideas. Even sing a simple idea based off of something you played in a mode….I would say don’t be afraid to mix them up, or use the same one many times. There’s no right or wrong way when soloing….it gets better the more you do it…especially when you are not thinking so much lol. Practice them(the modes, exercise wise, and practice them independently with soloing)….after you are sting with that….just solo, see what comes out. These things are here to help you get started….but never to keep you in the same place. I hope this makes sense👀

@@smoothjazzsaxophonelessons9226 I appreciate your fast feed back and support. I will try these out within the solo and just see how it goes. I guess getting something that sounds like a question and answer phrase as you explained in this video is what I should be aiming towards. Have a great weekend.
