The Italy agate was amazing, and the little sunfish was so cute! Thanks for sharing! 😮

Hi Jansy, We're glad you liked the named rocks. It was pointed out that the Italy boot-shaped rock was for the wrong foot. Wish I'd have spotted that before publishing so I could have flipped the image. J&E

Hi Penny, We didn't seek out opal and just threw in a few pieces we happened upon. It wasn't until we got home that we found how easy it was to polish and how delightful it looked. It's not gem opal but we discovered its better than it being named "common" would indicate. J&E

Totally been binging on the rocks! You guys well, rock! One thing I learned when excavating different sites, and using buckets or totes to hold rocks, use a sheet of paper (I always have a sharpie and notebook) write the location and place the sheet in between the layers as you change sites. When you unload, boom, you may have some slippage through the sides, but for the most part. You have the locations and rocks, and no extra space. ❤

Love most of these rocks, and agates! And Cool set up in your truck!

Hi Karen, We're happy you liked seeing the rocks. Thanks for your comment about the truck, too. We did everything we could do ourselves, from the two battery systems with three control panels, to the cabinets/drawers in the back, to the running water. Let us know if you'd enjoy a series of videos detailing those. We may someday start another channel to split off overlanding. J&E

PLEASE do a video on your kitchen set up. I am planning a long trip from Kentucky to the western states in a King Cab truck and I am thinking about something like that for the bed of the truck. Found air matresses that turn the back bench seat into a bed! So my camping set up is going to be simple. Would love to have the kitchen in the bed of the truck though.

Hi Patricia, Your trip sounds like fun! I had to look up King Cab because I thought that was a style, but learned that it's a Nissan pickup truck. My setup may be too space consuming but that's up to you. I'm already over due for a modification video so this one will get priority on that list. The galley is completely home built but there are $$$ brands like Decked and Goose Gear where you can buy something similar. John

Hey, nice improvement on the sound quality!

Thanks for letting us know! It was still a struggle taking four sound adjusting iterations and two complete uploads to KZbin. Someday we'll get this dialed in and it's good to know we're moving in the right direction. J&E

Hi, We'd love to have company on our adventures because we get into dicey off-road situations and there is nothing like having two or more vehicles in such a case. We were worried about get stuck in the water crossing on this one. You'd need a high clearance vehicle, likely 4x4, and be self-sustained. Davis Creek, CA, somewhat close to you, is on our bucket list. J&E

I have never been clear on the difference between agate and jasper. Can you explain?
@GreyBearOverland Жыл бұрын
Hi, In the simplest terms possible, agates are translucent and jaspers are opaque. We aren't geologists and Wikipedia has all the many technical aspects of why that's over simplified. Sales of rocks has also distorted the naming by using two words, " agate" for many rocks that aren't agate. We ourselves overused "agate" instead of the correct term "chalcedony" in some cases. Chalcedony includes both agate and jasper along with other types or rocks. The CurrentlyRockhounding channel has a whole video on the topic. Thanks for asking! It's likely others wondered, too. J&E

@@GreyBearOverland thanks for your response! I have ordered a rock hunting guide book, and google has some awesome pics.

Hi Gail, Cool! Glad to hear you were inspired. A word about guide books. We've have found them to be riddled with errors like bad GPS coordinates or "turn left" instead of right, etc. or gated off roads. You should confirm routes on your PC before leaving and leave yourself plenty of time to double back and puzzle out where things were misleading. We consider solving those mysteries to be part of the fun. Good luck with your adventures! J&E

Hey I love your video it’s amazing but I’m wondering if you can make money from selling these rocks
@GreyBearOverland Жыл бұрын
Hi, Thanks for the compliment! Anything found on BLM land (up to a limit) can be kept for personal use but if the intent is to sell them then you must have a permit or claim. Of course rocks are often gifted from one person to another until no one don't know where they came from so I don't know how that is enforced. We've never sold any rocks but have given away many. At the prices I see, it's hard to make much money unless you've got something special or add a lot of value by making jewelry from them. We just saw crystals from the Rat's Nest mine claim going for over $10,000 each. Now THAT's special. -John
