I think it's a great unit, and pairing it up with a smart plug will allow for remote starting the drying process a few hours before starting the print.

I've been looking for a dryer with a fan. The sunlu ones were priced well, but not with a fan. Glad to see this.

I think this one is my favorite so far, both for ease-of-use and the fact that it runs until I turn it off.

The price seems super reasonable, considering it fixes most of the problems with the SunLu dryer. You could add an external outlet timer to give it a timed drying option.

The outlet timer is a great idea, and those are generally inexpensive. 👍

Good to know that the heat cycles degrades the filament. Bought this dryer and the build quality is nice, haven't tested it really yet.

Protip: get a smart wall adapter. That way you can set your own timer on your phone. If you want to get fancy, you can also get one for your printer allowing you to automatically stop the dryer as soon as your print is done.

Eibos make a really decent dryer. Why they didn't include a timer??... Got the Cyclopes model about a years ago which will kill the power using a timer, just incase you do forget. As for storage, I use the basic vacuum storage bags, a whole lot cheaper and you can store more than one reel in them also!

Conveniently, this was on a lightning sale on Amazon, dropping the price substantially, so I bit the bullet and got one. So far, the only thing I didn't like was that the hygrometer only displayed humidity. I also conveniently have a bunch of hygrometers that display the temperature and humidity that are the same size, so I swapped them out.

I bought the first EIBOS Vacuum system and out of the 20 bags, 19 leaked. When I chased EIBOS they wanted me to pay for shipping for replacement bags which cost more than the actual bags were worth.

I purchased one recently. It’s so quiet I need to check to see if it’s on or not. Once dried, I use it while printing to keep my filament dry then I vacuum bag for storage. No more bubbles in my PETG.

Drying and then bagging, the best advice as far as I'm concerned! 👍 Also glad to see this new generation of more dryers with fans!

I'm glad they made this one. A lot of comments in the Sunlu dryer videos center around the lack of a fan. Interestingly, despite not having a fan, the Sunlu ones worked fine for me. But other people said they had condensation forming inside the dryer. So this one is for the fans of the fan. 😄

@BV3D
@BV3D 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Peter, when you're done drying the filament, it's best to take it out of the dryer. Most spools of filament will fit in a one-gallon zipper bag, if it didn't come with a zipper bag of its own. Filament usually comes with a small desiccant pack in the bag as well, so keep that in the bag with the filament to help keep it dry.

Side note, have you seen/tried out the 3D chameleon automatic color changer system? @BV3D
@BV3D 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Allie, I haven't used Creality's touch screen upgrade on the Ender-3 V2 yet, so I don't know if it requires a firmware update on either the screen or the printer itself in order to work correctly. It may be best to exchange the touch screen for the V2's color screen with the knob. I would expect that to work without a problem.

It kinda sucks that the same box can't keep the filment dry when turned off
@BV3D
@BV3D 2 жыл бұрын
I later discovered there are two spots in the inside corners where desiccant packs can be placed (like the ones that come with the filament), so it could keep the filament dry for a little while. But with the air intakes and outlet vents, it wouldn't really be possible for it to be a long-term option.

Hey Bryan, thanks a lot for an awesome video! I've got a nooby question. I got the part where once the filament is dry and stored in the sealed bag is totally cool, but what happens when I reuse it? I live in area where moisture is around 50% all the time, do you maybe know how long does it take for a filament to suck moisture? Should I store it inside the dryer once I get it out of the bag and keep it drying while I print? My concerns are coming from you talking about re-drying makes filament more brittle. What is the best practice for drying-printing-storing? Keep it up bud!

@mghumphrey
@mghumphrey 2 жыл бұрын
I experienced this with one of their previous models. They have hot spots where the air enters the chamber. I also discovered the unit wouldn't get within 15C of their claimed maximum temp. the cheap hygromter they were using actually also displayed temperature, but they had blacked out (covered) the temperature - probably so that customers wouldn't see how far off it was from the setting. Also, they were using a manual relay instead of an SSR. This will fail eventually. I won't buy any of their products. I think there's a good market opportunity here, but so far all these dryers suck.

BE AWARE - These Eibos bags have a very high failure rate. The valves leak like crazy. If not on first use, then on second or third use. The company ignores complaints and requests for replacements. They just go in the trash. The USB electric pump works fine. It's the valves in the bags that fail. Buyer beware...
