Hi Stu, I happened upon your channel whilst searching for Jazz chords for the ukulele and I am so happy to have found you. I started learning about 4 years ago (with no previous musical knowledge/experience). I feel that to non-musicians, the ukulele gets a reputation for being a joke instrument/toy and the much uglier cousin to the guitar. A lot of videos/tutorials online continue to pedal this stereotype by reducing songs/music to the most simple chord progression and strum patterns (no criticism here, I also learnt that way) which are very far removed from the originals and lack feeling. What I love about you, is that you show the variety, complexity, seriousness and beauty of this wonderful little instrument. I found your videos at the perfect time as I was getting bored and demotivated by playing the same styles of music. You have inspired me and now I will be able to learn jazz, blues and lots of other styles! I am super excited and can't wait to binge watch all of your videos. Thank you so much for all of this. You play the ukulele beautifully and with more feeling and intuition than anyone else I've seen. You are my ukulele guru. Best wishes. X

Holee what a riff to have, slow or not. It does set the mood/ memory of the song for a lot of people & those who only respect guitars " may" certainly respect this on the uke if they are at all honest with themselves.

Your G sounds different than my G. What's up? Oh and I love how you say, "Take a breath." How did you know I was not breathing?!? lol ❤️
@UkuleleZen4 жыл бұрын
I remind myself to pay attention to my breathing about every 3-5 min ;-) You may have high G string tuning...I have a Low G tuning...you can swap the high string out for a low G :-)

Very nice, Stu, but I often have to transpose in order to be able to sing in a reasonable key. So on a standard ukulele (C6 tuning), I do Brown-Eyed Girl in C, with the riff on the center two strings. Works nicely, and is easy for beginners to follow along. If I was playing a baritone, I'd use the same finger positions you use in this video, to stay in C. -Kurt
@UkuleleZen5 жыл бұрын
Key of C is a nice place to place the riff as well! I chose G to match the original Key :) Play on Kurt.

So good like every video. Btw i saw the three littld birds video qnd i rlt dont understand how it sounds soooo good with you. I cant block the chordq after slamming sucks :c

The timing of Left and muting takes a while to get - I'd say just be patent while you develop the skill. It also has a bit to do with the speed of the strumming finger moving through the strings...whipping the strings just a little bit faster makes a BIG difference in the sound! Thanks for being here Victor!

What are the two notes you are playing, before you go back to the riff? F & D7? F7 and G? I can't hear what you are saying and the fingering doesn't look familiar, sigh.
