Have a great time painting along with this step by step Easy Watercolour Landscape - Tutorial 4. You will learn how to do graduated washes with two different round sables. I still like my size 12 pure kolinsky sable over the size 20 synthetic sable so if you can save up the money I would always go for the pure kolinsky.
Any questions let me know! Links are in the description below! Enjoy! Happy painting!
The things you will need are:
Any round sable
2 inch hake brush (i use a Holbein)
Spray bottle
3m scotch magic tape
Arches 300gsm medium cold pressed 100% cotton rag paper
MDF board to attach the paper to using 3M magic tape
Colour used was paynes grey!
Enjoy!

The three colours I will be using over the next 5 or more lessons will be yellow ochre, cobalt blue and light red. You could get these in any brand or quality but if you get them in Winsor & Newton Artist quality or Cotman then I know the quality will be good.

Nib pens are also very helpful to paint branches/ trees. The first thing I learned when I started with watercolors a couple of months ago, was to make gradients the size of an ant, but NEVER to paint a whole landscape like you did here. These tutorials are great. Thank you.

@ScottSwinson

Hi parsleybrain, thanks! Thanks! I don’t stretch the paper before I paint. I like just being able to start painting and so I use 280-300gsm paper and this works for me most of the time. When I paint large I should probably stretch the paper. Thanks for watching! 👍

On this demo I think I was using 300gsm arches. It has a fair bit of sizing snd do buckles less than other papers. You can pre stretch but I’m never organised enough to do that! 👍👍
