Why not start with 8 key scales?

Good question! The reason I start with 5 finger scales is because it gives an initial introduction to all the musical keys in a very simple way. It gives students a chance to learn good hand position and correct use of their fingers before introducing finger crossings under and over each other, which you need to do in 8 key scales. Also, 5 finger scales are the basis for triad chords. Hope that helps!

@@AAMAllAboutMusic ok understand. I just asked because I just started learning piano and got the assignment to learn all 8 key major scales. In the beginning it was so hard but getting now faster with both hands.
