HOW TO SIMPLIFY FRACTIONS THE EASIEST WAY: If the difference between the numerator and denominator is 1, the fraction cannot be simplified. A. Ask: does the numerator go into the denominator evenly (i.e. without any remainder)? If yes, proceed to B. If not, proceed to C. B. Great! The simplest fraction is 1 over the number of times the numerator fits in the denominator. (e.g. 20/60, 20 fits evenly 3 times, hence 1/3.) C. Write the remainder, (e.g. 20/46, (20 fits 2 times in 46, with a remainder of) 6.) to the right of the fraction, and ask: does the remainder go evenly into the numerator? If yes, proceed to D. If not, proceed to E. D. Great! The "remainder" is the Greatest Common Factor. Divide both the numerator and denominator by the GCF/remainder to have the simplest fraction. E. Write the "new remainder" (using the last example, 20/46, 6 fits into 20 with a "new remainder" of 2) to the right of the previous "remainder", and ask: does the "new remainder" fit evenly into the previous "remainder" (2 into 6)? If yes, proceed to D. If not, proceed to E. Please, (with your amazing talent,) produce a video demonstrating it. //Euclidean Algorithm.

@c dollar I'm glad you figured it out! 😊 Thank you so much for your kind words and I am happy I was able to help. That means the world to me. So thank you! 🙏🏼 I also want you to know that it is ok to make mistakes, specially if it's your brain playing "tricks" on you. One thing that usually works for me when I'm stuck and can't understand what's going on is to walk away for a little bit and then revisit with fresh eyes. Idk why, but is almost as if my brain forgets what it said and starts over with a new perspective. It's weird lol Another thing that I've noticed has helped me a lot over the years is being kind to myself. Understanding that I'm not perfect, I've got my limitations, but I also have a lot to offer, so I will not beat myself up over things that may not even be under my control. You sound like a very kind person, so I hope you're practicing kindness toward yourself as well. 🙏🏼 Many of us often forget that we are the one person we have to live with 24/7 for the rest of our lives, so might as well, have a great relationship with ourselves. 😉 I know the struggle of ADD is very real, but you got this! 💪🏽 Btw, random side note. Did you know that I have financial literacy videos as well? I hope I can help with that side of math too 😁

You can find the gcf by finding all of the prime factors of both numbers and multiplying the shared prime factors. For example 36 and 44. 36’s prime factors are 2, 2, 3, and 3. 44’s prime factors are 2, 2, and 11. Both 36 and 44 share the prime factors of 2, and 2, so you multiply 2 and 2 together to get a gcf of 4. If your numbers only share 1 prime factor, then that is your gcf is that number. If you have no shared prime factor, then the gcf is 1. Edit: Forgot to say that overall this video helped me a ton for my shsat prep as you need speed as well bc it is a timed test
@BzBlade
@BzBlade 3 жыл бұрын
You can find the GCF if you divide both numbers, then divide the remainder into the smaller number. Repeat step until you get no remainder and the GCF is the number you divided into that gave you no remainder. 171/228 is 1r57 then 57/171 is 3 with no remainder so GCF is 57

@@IsabelExplains nice "trick" but why does that work? I want students to understand the logic of math without tricks. That is why being able to use the prime numbers to prime factor is so valuable. Finding the square root first is a good start. Half the factors are less than the square root. Halves the effort. It is easier to find a few small factors than one big one. Adding the digits of a number immediately tells us whether 3 is a factor or not. In this case I would divide by 3 first and continue from there.

I love this question! Thank you for asking! Even though it looks like I only went up to 19, I actually checked all the factors available because when I got the small factor (like 3) I also got the big counterpart (the 57), so once I get to the smallest "big" factor, there's no need to keep going because you have already found them all. You're welcome to keep going but you're only going to find the factors we already found. Does that make sense? 😊

Hi to you I’m have a question to ask you What happened if you want to simplify the fractions to the bigger number, like eg.. 45,064 / 65,562
@IsabelExplains
@IsabelExplains 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Lam, sorry for the late response. Thank you for your comment! In this case I would use more broad concepts of Maths such as "if the numbers are even, they're divisible by 2", or "if all their digits add up to a multiple of 9, it is divisible by 9" or "if it ends in 0 or 5, it is divisible by 5" and so on until you get to a more comfortable number. Sometimes math is just a bit hard and requires a bit more work, but the most important thing is to understand the concept and WHY you're doing what you're doing. Hope that helps! 😊

@@marvelculous8127 Thank you for your comment! First of all, you're most likely not bad at Math, you probably haven't been taught in the way that you learn. I will be releasing a video on this soon, so make sure to subscribe so you can get a notification when it comes out 🙂 Alright, prime factorization just means to find all the factors of a number that are prime (e.g. 2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 17, etc.). You basically keep dividing by these numbers until all you have is prime numbers. Then you represent that number as the multiplication of its prime factors. For example: To do the prime factorization of 36 we do: 36 / 2 = 18 18 / 2 = 9 9 / 3 = 3 This means that the prime factorization of 36 is 2 x 2 x 3 x 3. Hope this helps! 🙏

@IsabelExplains
@IsabelExplains 2 жыл бұрын
Hey @Geraldine Montoya. You're not screwed. You can do it using a calculator. There are some factors that are obvious like 2, 3, and 5. I also explain the trick of the table of 11 in another video. But Math is about logic, not about memorizing. It's never about memorizing. Let me know if you have any other questions :)

I was just showing that you have to divide top and bottom by 57. You don't need to write it, but I was just using it as visual aid. Does that answer your question? 😊

Great effort though but Its too fast. There are dumb people that haven't even heard anything as Highest factor or lowest factor or if its divisible and stuff. So my feedback if you allow me would be to always teach and explain as if you are teaching to complete beginners. Though i will watch another video..to understand it..but thought of leaving this comment here.
