Many many many hours later! This works Consolidate drive on old itunes on old comp (under Library edit-) ------under edit libaray again - click export library File (remember where you keep this-I kept it in itunes folder and dated it) Copy itunes (including music!) from drive -from your Old comp *note it may work just cutting and pasting music Files-but I copied the whole folder. Paste on drive in new comp Install itunes on new comp drive Drag whole itunes folder (including music files) into Itunes Go to import playlist on itunes-click on your saved File…

so I did it this way but Serato keeps saying they can't find the music files every time I try to load a song but it says my iTunes library was imported any idea what may be going on

No comprendo ... primero dices que solamente se necesita copiar el folder music, y en la parte que sigue del video se ve copiando varion unos tras otros .... y que del iCloud, no esta iTunes sincronizado con el cloud y simplemente tendria que entar mis login y contraseña para recuperar toda mi musica y videos en las nuevas apps de big sur MUSIC y TV ?

THANK YOU! ** The key to the successful transfer/upload to your new Mac is deleting/replacing the (empty) iTunes folder on your new machine (otherwise it interferes with the 'read' so you don't see your full library in your new iTunes).** I used an external hard drive to drag and drop the folder across rather than a cable.

How is the new MacBook working out for you after the transfer? Which DJ software are you using?

The model from the video is MBP 2018 with Mojave (so I have the "itunes", not the new apple music app that comes with Catalina). Everything works great, all playlists and organization in the exact order. I did try the method to transfer the library to the new "music" app that comes with Catalina and it works. However, the new "music app" was not able to do what I need from itunes when DJing, so I downgrade to Mojave and stayed there. Regarding the program used for DJing, we use "Embrace" from the app store! in combination with itunes. Thanks for the video, but unfortunately this doens't work if your music is on a NAS. Just tried it and it copied all the files from the NAS to my itunes folder. On the new computer it wont look at the NAS anymore. I've to reconnect all the songs again to the NAS.

Not sure if you would know this, but here goes... I have two Macs: an old MacPro tower (5,1) and a MacMini. I want to move my library for the tower to the MacMini to use a dedicated music server. Problem is, the MacPro is on High Sierra (iTunes 12.8), but the Mini is on Catalina (with the new Music app)... Will the process you describe still work the same way? I have a TB of media to move so I want to make sure before proceeding). Cheers!

Hi! I did update my High Sierra to Catalina and saw that the music was ordered the same way in the same place, but I have not done the process to transfer it. Therefore, I cannot guarantee 100% that this will work. If you do try it, please share it with us all, so we learn from your experience!! Just short feedback about Catalina, I couldn't find a way to "filter music within a playlist" (the filter seemed to filter the entire library, instead of inside the playlist I have). As this was really annoying for me, I downgrade to High Sierra again. If you find/have a solution for this too, please let us know as well! Good luck! Looking forward to hearing what you decide!

@@TangoNataliayAgustin I ended up downgrading to High Sierra too. Was an easy transfer. Will probably just keep my two Macs on the same OS for the ease of transfer/syncing libraries....at least for now. I appreciate your efforts with the video!!

Yes, it does work. I have tried it on a surface, having the library on an SD card and no issues. Then you would have to change the library folder root in preferences.
