I'm definitely looking at getting one of these as soon as I'm ready. Parts are piling up in my living room already. This will unfortunately be the 3rd year in a row I have to work every day of the expo.😡

Personal choice for looks, I still prefer my Badlands with the stock steel bumper. Only thing I wish I could change would be D shackle points on the factory bumper instead of those hooks.

Before you installed the control box, I loved how clean the setup was. Thoughts on installing the control box in the engine compartment for a “remote location control box” install??

@@OzarkOverlandAdventures I put mine in a ARB Deluxe bumper and the way the winch mounts it puts the handle straight back. Reason why I was asking.

A battery disconnect switch is a real good thing to have and the badlands 12000 apex comes with one, just had a run away situation on and older winch because the wireless remote decided to apply the winch, if I would have had the battery disconnect I wouldn’t have ruined my line. Luckily I Was in the driveway when it happened or it could have been a lot worse. Anyway old winch is getting a battery disconnect just like my new Badlands 👍

How do you determine what size winch (ie how many lbs of pull strength strength) to buy?
@OzarkOverlandAdventures2 жыл бұрын
1.5 times your vehicle's GVWR

Didn’t really understand the front grill removal. You didn’t run the wires directly behind it. I have the same winch, now waiting on some descent weather to get it installed in factory steel bumper. Looks good and should serve you well.
@OzarkOverlandAdventures2 жыл бұрын
It just makes seeing where to run the wires easier.

Assuming the Rubicon stock steal bumper. How would you mount it? I didn't see a winch plate in the box. ( I like the clean sunken look of the stock bumper)
@OzarkOverlandAdventures2 жыл бұрын
No winch is going to come with a winch plate. You have to buy your own if your bumper doesn’t have one. Several companies make winch plates for the factory Jeep steel bumpers.

Thanks for the video, it was very informative. I have been researching budget winches for the past 6 months. I'm in Illinois with 4 small kids so I won't be getting out to Moab anytime soon, which is why I just need a winch that will give me piece of mind for the few trails I can get to in the local area. I tried to purchase this winch using the discount code you provided, however it refused to accept it and provided, "ATEMOFFROAD discount code isn’t valid for the items in your cart" Is there somethign I'm doing wrong or should I reach out to the vendor? Thanks for all your content!!

Matt, love your channel and content. Following your recommendations and bought same gladiator model/color and winch. Can you recommend a mounting plate for the Rubicon stock steel bumper. Open Road was not informed on needing a mounting plate. Thx. Keep up the great work. Hope to meet up one day.

Hey matt, I left a review earlier went back to edit and I see my review is gone. I'm unsure how that's possible but let me leave you another one. Few months after your review, I purchased the $9,500 lb winch. I did attempt to call customer service for winch plate mounting recommendations, number has been disconnected and no longer works. After communicating with China by email, they stated same "no number available" and there is no US based company here, customer service is strictly email responses after 10:00 p.m. at night from China...which is of course following day for them. I received my winch today...wow...all just simply piled into a box which is completely unacceptable. Nothing was wrapped or individually packaged or layered as in your review the stickers on the winch appear like a child attached them and are peeling in all corners, free spool release completely different than reviewed (flip up 10 cent chrome piece, nothing about this experience was good and I will be returning it. I'm a huge fan of you Cara and the channel, thought important for me to let you know what the average customer experience is. PS happy to email you a photo on how it was packaged/delivered.

I'm sorry you had a bad experience, someone will be contacting you soon to resolve this customer service issue. Our new winch has an upgrade in the package.
