Really nice fly. I usually don't tie foam flies. I just don't like them much. I do tie them for others. This is so much more than a foam fly. I don't have any evasote but I will save the video and send to your store for some. Best wishes for a great New Year. Sean

Pretty ingenious. I've been using a very similar pattern, except with a strand of black krystal flash as the tail. Gotta give this a try though!

Have you ever tried dipping the tip-top of the fly in white ink or paint to make it easy to see?

Great explanation, Curtis. Since my eyesight is not what it once was, am wondering if a foam piece in yellow or bright green would be just as productive on the water. Have you tried any color of foam other than black?

Thanks,I put one of these in a glass of water with no floatant, and it was still floating after four hours.

What size leader do you use for this fly? Is it going to be mono or flouro? Also what length would you fish it from a dry fly? I purchased some from you guys awhile ago and never caught anything on them. So I must be doing something wrong. 🤷‍♂️

Mono, because it is a dry fly. It doesn't look natural once it's underwater; it's meant to look like a midge emerging from its shuck. So the foam needs to be above the water and "hidden" that way. Put floatant on your tippet all the way to within 6" of this fly, but not on the last 6 inches or so. You can fish it with another dry fly, but certainly don't need to. When you get a grab, wait just a second and then gently lift. That way the hook will find a spot. These are just my opinions and experiences with this fly, not the author's.
