@@theLikou1 Not always. New Super Mario Bros. U was NOT "GOTY material" under any circumstances. Since their revival, 2D Marios have never really been considered "GOTY material." They were merely "good enough." This game, however, felt like the kind of carefully crafted 2D Mario game that Mario 3 and World were, and I'm all here for it. Having said that, I don't know if I'd give Mario GOTY. Because even as more of a Mario fan, I think Zelda deserves it more. But I really loved this game.

For real. One of the reasons why I like them and liked Gametrailers. Not once did GT consider a game "perfect" (well except Bloodborne kinda). 10s are rare here which means buy the game. Which I just did.

After Wonder the next best platformer on the Switch has to be DKTF imo. Was never crazy over Mario as many of the newer games are too similar to the classics but with prettier gfx until Wonder came along and revolutionized Mario. Always loved DK tho and Tropical Freeze still holds up very well graphically even after all these years!

Bubble and Drill are broken powers they make quite a few levels trivial with some fancy bubble jumps and pinpoint drill jumps and ground pounds. The speedruns are already super fun. It's a phenomenal game that is incredibly polished. I've yet to see any glitch or issue at all.

What I like that it threw away the countdown clock. With so much to collect in this game it encourages exploration within the level and doesnt press the player to complete the level.

This game definitely feels intended primarily for single player, with the exception of the search party levels that are clearly meant to be played co-op. Online stuff is surprisingly quite fun in general and almost entirely lag-free. So if you're ever in the mood for more companions, just play like that. It makes the game a little easier though, so feel free to turn it off if you want more of a challenge. I've heard 4 player can actually be a nightmare here to boot since the camera only follows one player. So don't worry. Playing solo is actually optimal!

While Zelda TOTK is still my personal GOTY this new incredible 2D Mario game comes real close. Nintendo has been been giving Switch an amazing send off along with masterpiece Metroid Prime Remastered. I also cannot wait for Paper Mario TTYD Remake and Princess Peach Showtime :-)

I wouldn't say this game is a 10/10. More of a 9.5 cause the one problem i have with this game is the main bosses not including the Wonder Flower bosses are on the lacking side minus Bowser. But aside from that i have no complaints.

Mario Wonder's really good, but I lament the lack of a much traditional difficulty curve. I think the structure of the game is a little too open for my liking. Still, had a blast playing through it. Definitely one of my favourites from this year

One person mentioned wonder effects should been entire levels as opposed to 30s detours. I’m enjoying the game so far, but I think it’s a fair point. I think if we didn’t have a string of samey 2D Mario games, that might sting more. But just having a new, original would’ve been a good time anyway.

Could IMMEDIATELY tell the difference in the level of polish, even the first level of Wonder, compared to any of the "New SMB" games. The characters control better, the models, environments, and animations are much better and even the music is much more memorable.

I don't think the New Super Mario Bros. games lacked polish. Mechanically, they were incredibly well designed and controlled very well. I don't think this game is any more "polished" than those, as that implies that the "New" games were riddled with game breaking bugs. They just lacked the spark and inventiveness that this game, and classic NES/SNES 2D Marios had. The "New" games were very much just Nintendo going through the motions.

Score spoiler: I was gunna raise some heck if this hadn't gotten a 10. Good job, Damiani. I 100% agree with what you said on Frame Trap. This game makes the twosome a threesome between this, 3, and Super Mario World; if you had trouble deciding between those, I think you probably have a third to throw in that mix. There might be nits to pick, but in my entire experience with Wonder there was nothing in the game that wasn't additive. Even the Flower Guy becomes charmingly annoying.

Loved it but, a 10/10? no, the boss battles was pretty badly handled again (odyssey was a mess as well) but for a game that can get so wacky and creative with the wonder flowers, the bosses was just a waste of time. also, I 100% it after 4 days (including all medals). I just had wished for something more. I think I had 1-2 game overs in the whole game, beside the "challenges" in the secret worlds. I dont wish it to be "hard" but this was on the super mario world challenge level, and not mario 3.

Try it it's not too much of a baby mode actually. You rarely did from enemy collisions and more often from falling into pits. The baby mode are more the blue colored badges.
