Talking to the passengers face-to-face during those delays and allowing photo-ops to pass the time - very tactfully handled. It’s good to see the insight on this side of commercial airliner pilots. I know being a pilot can be quite arduous, and even more so for the ATCs. But seeing pilots making honest mistakes and chatting along nicely with one another is just a reminder we are all human, we make mistakes, big or small no matter what profession.

@@ThisaraGamalath Fear is irrational it is an emotion some people have no control over it. However, a calm authoritative friendly figure can often ease one's sense of fear. a lot of fear of flying actually stems from the fear of losing control and while someone is in a car they, for the most part, have control of the situation however when one is in a plane as a passenger they have no control at all

Best of luck to you friend. I earned my PPL about 5 months ago but have no dreams of going anywhere but up. I'm over forty already and established in a career that I do well and earn well. But I always wanted to fly so I achieved my goal. Had to work at it a bit and was lucky enough to be in a relationship a few years ago with a woman who was flight instructor prior to becoming an airline pilot. She also owned her own aircraft and was really into me so I got free lessons and the best encouragement one could get from their flight instructor.
