Eat Bulaga! formerly Eat... Bulaga! is a Philippine television variety show broadcast by GMA Network. Produced by TAPE Inc., it is the longest running variety show in the Philippines with over 12,619 episodes. Production Specialists, Inc., a company owned by Romy Jalosjos, came up with an idea of creating a noontime show for Radio Philippines Network. Antonio Tuviera pitched that Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto and Joey de Leon (Collectively known as TVJ) would be the "perfect" hosts for the show. At a meeting at the Inter-Continental Manila, Tuviera made an offer to them which was accepted. Thus, Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, Joey de Leon were the original hosts wih Chiqui Hollman and their old friend Richie D'Horsie. It premiered on July 30, 1979 in RPN 9. In 1989, it transferred to ABS CBN and finally to GMA in 1996 to present. Sotto Brothers, de Leon and their growing “Dabarkads”, a syllabic reversal of the word “Barkada” meaning group of friends, currently serve as the hosts. A little trivia….Did you know that the term “Dabarkads” was coined by the late Francis Magalona? The show is also streaming live on KZbin.
