We were very impressed during our last visit to France,. In a restaurant, we saw a table full of workmen who were sitting down to a substantial 2-course lunch, relaxing and chatting together. That sort of thing is so much better than grabbing a quick sandwich and gulping it down in the workplace, as so many working people seem to do over here.

Merci Marie-Anne, I have kept my weight quite well during these years. I'm 70 and still quite fit. I have walked a lot in my life and also do still jogging/walking at least 3 times a week weather permitting of course and then 2 times a week yoga for an hour. I love my exercises and also housework and little bit of gardening are good. After my husband passed away about an year ago, I listen lots of music and dance around the house. I buy organic produce and do all meals from scratch. I still bake sometimes too but not so much what I used to. I usually postpone my first meal as much as possible and I enjoy my black coffee with collagen powder. I have red wine with my dinner and I like to keep my meals small and healthy. One thing I do, what many people don't agree with, yes I sun bake, I keep a tan and get my vitamin D from Sun. I'm not any more wrinklier than people of my age, actually some say I look at least 10 years younger. Positive attitude to life and nice French Chic outfits makes my life totally worth living.❤❤

Thank you for putting this on KZbin. I’m sending it to my sisters too. I have been obese most of my life. At the age of 77 I learned about intermittent fasting, tried it, and lost 150 lbs. At that point I began to look at fashion videos, and I found YOU! I learned so much, it made so much sense! Regarding my weight loss, there were other benefits. First, I learned to love food…real food. And now I understand when you hear French, Italian, other cultures, drool over the food of their countries, I understand how delicious that food is AND what a satisfying and satiating experience it is. Second, when I start my fast after dinner, I have had two delicious and satisfying meals, and I’m fine for 16-18 hours. A friend who had been to Paris talked about French ice cream in a tiny cone and how delicious it was. I’m still watching your video, but I had to,stop to comment. Thank you for all your excellent advice.

The phenomenon of homeostasis means that the human body returns to its habitual weight after periods of under or over ingestion of food. This is controlled by our hormones! Weight is not a question of "calories in/calories out". Exercise does not lead to weight loss. It is good for muscles and bones but it does not make any difference to weight.
@rosej96868 ай бұрын
I respectfully disagree. If you keep your food intake the same but increase your activity, you will lose weight. I am a testament of this.
@cherylburke32268 ай бұрын
I agree. Check out the work of Jason Fung (The Obesity Code). Calories in calories out is an antiquated idea and the science is just not there, yet this is what all the MDs push. There is way more to the equation. Dr Benjamin Bickman has a great book entitled Why We Get Sick that blew my mind. As a pharmacist this is not info I learned in school. Who knew INSULIN is what we should be watching for metabolic health.
@shihtzuluvrtwo63868 ай бұрын
I do not agree. Hormones can add to the issues but not everybody has the hormone issue. I had a weight problem my entire life. At 38 @220lbs I woke up and ate less, better and worked out. This is a fascinating and very important topic, Marie-Anne. Also stress (cortisol), lack of sunshine (vit D) and lack of sleep (melatonin) will increase anxiety and food cravings while snacking constantly will spike insulin levels as well. Healthy meals, physical activities and good habits promote good health and well-being and love the fact how French people sit and enjoy their meals with family/friends/colleagues taking their time rather than eating junk/ultra processed foods full of synthetic ingredients like Monosodium Glutamate (MSG), maltodextrin, high fructose corn syrup and modified starches among others that are detrimental to health. This was an amazing live video and would love more on healthy habits since they promote better quality of life, health and style, please. Merci 🙏🏻⚘

High stress does horrible things, I hit menopause spiralled into depression,being very anxious and stressed. I lost so much weight my doctor thought I was seriously ill. When I miraculously recovered I was so happy, I could eat with pleasure-I put all the weight back on and some extra, I am now tackling it but it's slow, but I'll crack it- I never found a diet as effective as clinical depression, but I couldn't ever recommend it-I would rather be larger for life than go back there.

To people eating junk food I would say you have to want better for yourself. If you are eating it everyday then try adding something good into it or drinking a large glass of water first. I know that when I try to take my restricted foods away I feel worse. Then move from every meal to just once a day. Then to 3xs a week, then 2 and 1 then move to once a month if you are really struggling with that.

Bonjour. Thanks again for such a wonderful and caring video. I was 110 kgs + for most of my adult life, because I ate my feelings. I have been a healthy weight for more than a decade now, but I wish I had lost the weight years before. I hav long term health issues as a direct result of being so obese for so long. The biggest change in my food is I only eat when hungry and stop when satisfied. I have always loved clothes, and have always felt beautiful fat and slim. Now I just feel healthier and enjoy clothes even more. And I totally agree with prepping food for the fridge and freezer, freezing onions, celery and peppers saves me so much times. We rarely eat take away food, and having food prepped is a big part of that.

Bonjour, Marie-Anne, from Istanbul, European side! When I was a senior in high school, my bestie and I decided to go on a diet and we gained 5 pounds. We would decide to go off our diet and go get pizza and then say that we would start our diet the next day. We did this several times a week and went to get ice cream sundaes, homemade chocolate fudge, half-moon cookies, eclairs, Boston cream donuts, hamburger and fries, etc. We would also try to make ourselves feel better by saying that we would start the diet the next day! We would have been better off just eating regular meals like we normally did.

Working in gastroenterology there are so many people that suffer from reflux and they eat too much too close to going to bed which makes it worse. I think eating in a relaxed way as the french appear to must be so good for your health and digestion and would influence your choice of food too. Doing core exercises at home will pull in your waist without losing weight. Lower back, abs, and obliques. This is a neglected area many times. I’d rather look firm than skinny and flabby. On the upside, your face looks much younger with your small weight gain😊.

In my opinion (have done a lot in this topic, believe me) the most important thing - to love yourself (some are learning it the whole life) and what NOT TO EAT and WHEN TO EAT. Sorry, do not know anything about diabetes (only that it is possible to reverse with the right eating habits too). DON'T EAT BREAD, PASTA AND POTATOES, and do those breaks between meals - 12-16 h over bight. That is my best practice and I can eat whatever I want:-). Just to mention - I am not the spring chicken:-) Best wishes to all in this endeavor!

Unfortunately, in America we have far too much hyper palatable non foods. It’s made to be addictive. I went low carb six years ago and lost weight but have more to go. I also struggle with yummy things friends bring when they visit. 😢

It takes a little self discpline at first Trixie but once you get the habit you will find it gets easier and easier and you get the reward of seeing and feeling the benefits 😃

Dear Marie-Anne, thank you for your wonderful and inspiring videos. I am german and also lived in England for over 11 years. Both diets rely heavily on bread. What do you eat instead? I would really like to reduce the amount of bread in my diet. Love and thanks Martina

Bonjour Martina I never skimp on bread - the bread in France is delicious. If I my clothes are feeling a little tight I just ease back until they tell me I am back to my normal weight 😃
