Thank you for this video. I haven’t been to Sekiya’s since the 1980s. I recently saw this video and gave them a try last night. My Won Ton Min with Vegetables and BBQ Stick was wonderful. My family also liked the Tonkatsu and Teri-Cheeseburger. My wife could also get her favorite Chocolate Coke which is hard to come by nowadays. Definitely will go back more regularly.

Jennifer Ha, what a perfectly good reason to come visit our islands. We still have some old mom and pop saimin stands around, but it seems like the ramen shops are taking over the world. Eating at a old time saimin stand brings back memories of what we call "small kid time". If you ever come to Oahu, you have to eat at one of the old saimin stands to get a true feeling of what it was like back in the day.

Teriyaki sauce is the name of the sauce equal parts sugar to water
@rodneyinefuku3810 Жыл бұрын
Great video Lucas! But....when eating teri-beef on a stick, we locals bite the beef with teeth and then slide the beef off the stick. If you want more sauce on the beef, you just dip the beef on the stick into the sauce on the plate... then bite the beef off the stick as usual. That's the way us Hawaii local folks do it. Also, us locals do not add ketchup to a teri-burger. We just eat it the teri-burger as is. Adding ketchup to the burger spoils the "teri" taste. Would be like adding sugar to poi. Have you tried eating poi? Most folks from the mainland gotta eat poi with sugar. Otherwise reaction would be: "Phew! This poi tastes like (elementary school) paste!" Well,... you're from the mainland... so you're forgiven. You do slurp up the noodles up like a true Asian though. But great video!
