@charleyu55062 жыл бұрын
I'm extremely left leaning in so many ways but I have to agree with you. The way they're trying to push black people into everything is so weird. If anything they should be highlighting the native american influence in the food not just in mexican food but a lot of american food including barbecue which incorrectly gets attributed to black people
@bossmedia40282 жыл бұрын
Those were my thoughts. That I’m aware of “afro Mexicans” and guerrero have the same cuisine as everyone else in Mexico. They are just Mexicans to me. I don’t see the point in making such distinctions just because their skin is darker. Everyone in Mexico is different shades.

@@bossmedia4028 true. I lived in guerrero for a while many dont know most afro mexicans lived with us indigenous mexicans and many speak indigenous languages. The food is similar not much different from rest of Mexico as cultures have fused over time the spanish indigenous mexican. Never ate any african infused food or anything like that because most afro mexicans just adapted the native mexican culture and live with us in the indigenous villages. So its not like they know there past ancestry of where they come from in africa and have food recipes or cultures outside of mexico .

exactly they are exploiting the "afro mexican" identity to get sympathy and recognition, in veracruz we have real afro-mexican cuisine that black africans developed on their own. What this restaurant is serving is just indigenous/mestizo food from Mexico

I do agree with other comments about the food highlighted being Mexican and I was kinda expecting some African cuisine as well as Mexican. I do understand that the owners are Afro-Latino or I believe that to be the case. One thing I can't get over is the gal with the long nails prepping the taco and not wearing gloves and I say this because long nails require a nail brush when washing hands. I work in Healthcare and know what germs can linger under those acrylics and hopefully the staff does use a nail brush and wash frequently. Thanks for the video and review!

nothing in the video is afro mexican cuisine at all but indigenous foods, Veracruz has real afro-mexican cuisine that blacks developed on their own, its really sad to see this family exploit afromexicans and even indigenous food to gain popularity
@Dioleate2 жыл бұрын
@@carlosm.3426 Relax dude, there's absolutely no need to project what you're projecting onto the owners of the restaurant. Elena herself is from Costa Chica in Guerrero, she's not "exploiting" anything by preparing food from that community. Most people have no idea about the existence of prominent Afro-Mexican communities like Costa Chica, representing them and raising awareness about them deserves to be seen as a good thing. Acting like they do that for "popularity" is ridiculous. Do better research about the owners before you say these things.
