Some people really need to grow up and come out of their Mohalla mentality. We celebrate Navratri and do not eat non-veg, that's fine. But assuming the whole India observes Navratri the exact same way is peak foolishness.

Never in my life I heard about fuljhuri pithe.... my bad!! Fish chop is made at our home on Bhai phonta (bhai dooj)... all through the year I wait for that particular day only lol.. Also, ghugni, egg devil, aloo dum stay in our hearts 24x7. And Patishapta!!!! (not a fan of the kheer filling, but) with coconut and jaggery filing takes my breath away. EVERY SINGLE TIME. Heavenly. Thanks for the video & featuring something different from roshogolla, mishti doi, alur chop and phuchka. Take love

As much as they maintained the authenticity of all the dishes, the biryani disappointed me. Where's the aloo? Patishapta is one of the best sweets and is especially better during winter when it's filled with real jaggery, mawa and fried in ghee. Then you dip it in liquid gur and enjoy. I wasn't aware of the aloo dum chaat but I feel the explanations were wrong as "chur-mur" is quite different from what was served. "Fhuljhuri Pithe" is more of a fair attraction and there are moulds for it so making them is relatively easy. Happy pujo and glad you loved all the food!

Ab bolo hum Bengalis Navratri mein no veg kyun kha sakte ho ?? Guys we are Bengalis and we are Hindus and we exist . We as Bengalis fast in the mornings and break our fast by doing a Ritual called Pushpanjali where in we offer our prayers to Maa Durga with flower’s and Bel leaves and then we drink Chrnamitra that is milk with sweets which is offered to maa Durga before the Pushpanjali and this process goes on the day , so yes after than we can eat veg or non veg depending upon the person what he wants eat so yes next time when you visit a pANDALS don’t ask your Bengali Friend tum log Navratri mein non veg Kaise Khate ho . That’s our culture

@aakashjethwani7628 In Bengal and in the entire east and north east a large section of people eat Non veg during Durga Puja. In few places people eat Veg or luchi not rice during the day of Ashtami. I don't know the exact reason for this. But, eating non veg during Durga puja is not a taboo in Bengal and in the entire east and north east.

@aakashjethwani7628 I hope, being a Bengali, I am able to explain you. Maa Durga killed Mahishashur, basically a demon in the form of Buffalo. So, in olden times, Buffalo used to sacrifice in front of the Goddess Durga. Now, instead of Buffalo, mostly Pumpkin are sacrificed in front of Maa Durga. Meat from the sacrificed animal used to offer to Maa Durga as a prasad.

Not every part of India celebrates Durga Puja the same way. Most Assamese/ Gujarati/ North Indian people keep fast during Navaratri to the Goddess. Meanwhile, Bengali families believe that homecoming of the Goddess is like when a married daughter comes home, so they cook up a feast for their homecoming daughter.

All these celebrations are an acknowledgment of natural reality, that of E = M (lila/interplay between energy and matter). The divine expressing itself in myriad forms. In this particular instance, it is the worship of the divine feminine. An underlying homogeneous consciousness/energy field manifested as the heterogeneous/diverse cosmos that is. The Absolute manifested as the infinite relative, both monotheistic and polytheistic.
