Yan Kit Swimming Pool....my late father taught my sister and I how to swim there. Our reward after every swimming session each week was a piece of carrot cake with tangy chilli sauce at the small food store there. Miss you baba.

You said like its less interesting than you expected but i think actually u discovered alot of interesting stuff already. Ytd i watch your video then today i went down to try the ultrabake coffee, bakkwa breads and the 10cent pancake. Maybe after hearing u said, my expectation of coffee became quite high. Then when i try today, i actually just find it soso because the amount of milk was too little for me. But anyway coffee always subjective for different people. The 10cent pancake gonna close down by 14 Jan. They only have cheese flavor left, dont even have biscoff le. But i love the size, a 10cent coin so big, very instagrammable food. Haha. Then i went up to duxton, paying 6 dollars. I tot it will be interesting if you can shun bian go up and take a look. The view is very nice and got alot of angles. Up there quite windy but sibeh hot. I feel non resident pay money go up is fine i feel like imposing on them lol. I love your videos man. You are the personality that draw ppl closer because of how you speak, very 接地气 and 亲切。jokes are damn funny also. Your jie jie speak also damn funny, i think she is damn knowledgeable. I learnt alot from what she said also.

I was initially worried that you'd miss Ultra Bake, but thankfully, you did grab drinks from them! I'm a huge fan of their drinks and cheese toast. The Ultra Bake boss recommended Chef Yamashita's cakes on level 2 when I was looking for a good cake as Ultra bake does not sell cakes. I noticed the Yamashita was closed when you walked past it in the video - I'm guessing it was a Monday when you recorded this. I hope you'll return soon to try Ultra Bake's delicious cheese toast and the delicious cakes from Chef Yamashita!

Chef Yamashita is indeed very good for cakes. The Japanese owner/baker has been in Singapore for many years. I believe the strawberry shortcake recipe from Flor Patisserie and Patisserie Glacé probably came from him because of the similarities

In SG we have 2 types of Guinness actually haha. One type is the one usually served in a kopi tiam. That one has a more "herbal taste" and is a little sour. The other type is usually served in bars and is more creamy, hoppy and a little bitter. I prefer the bar version 😅

Used to swim at Yan kit swimming pool during the final days of this swimming pool because used to work there, really run down and old school. Tanjong Pagar Plaza 10 yrs plus ago message already a lot of tenehneh joints. Hawkers centre got one shark meat lor mee, long queue.

Yan Kit Swimming Complex was Singapore's 2nd public swimming pool, hence why it got preserved. Singapore Sports Council(Sport Singapore's original name) wanted to tear the place down before returning it back to state, but government wanted to preserve the structure due to its historical significance, plus residents were lobbying to keep it due to its history(which is ironic because it was closed down due to daily attendance of only 120 people). Guess government just wanted to have something to represent the earliest days of swimming in Singapore, since Singapore weren't concerned at all about preserving history in the 80s and were tearing down old houses left and right to make space. But iirc Mount Emily Swimming Pool(our first public swimming pool) weren't torn down, the pool was just stoned up and sealed while the structure is left in the dense forests after redeveloping the area into Mount Emily Park. The former Yan Kit swimming Complex is now kinda an eye sore since its too small for actual recreational activity, and most residents don't care about its history.

丹戎巴葛组屋区应该有超过50年历史，我是在那里出世的。 那个巴刹地面层以前有好多鸡贩和鸭贩，现场宰鸡鸭的场景记忆犹新。 旧游泳池是我们小孩以前的天堂，可惜年久失修，且设计不符合国际奥林匹克泳池标准，而停用了。政府原本有计划把地方改造成新颖的休闲场所，外包给私人业者，但改造计划也胎死腹中。这个游泳池的设计和旧里峇峇利游泳池相似。 丹戎巴葛坊还有一些商店是四五十年前的老店，一直没搬走。

Grew up in Tanjong Pagar. Many changes but still there are many shops that remained there since 30-40 years ago. If you see the shop owners that are close or above 60s there, they are probably the owners aince long long ago. Just some fun facts: 1. DRS Chua Clinic is a family clinic, where family (parents and children) are all doctors, hence Drs. 2. Blks with HDB are 1, 3, 4, 5, 8 (total 5). The whole 1st bigger plot, until market, is blk 2. Market is blk 6. Smaller plot is blk 7. 3. Yan Kit pool had 3 pools which is now the whole park, which i believe is the oldest (or one of the oldest) pool in SG. Will add more fun facts if i remember.

If u are a resident at Pinnacle u will also be sian of tons of non residents going to the rooftop garden & being noisy & leaving tons of trash behind. Not to mention hogging the lifts. There are other hdb blocks with popular rooftop gardens who do this too. Fully justified IMO.
