My cousin gave me some to take home. I cut them in half and it was easier to eat. I also ate the seed which tasted like a basic nut, very neutral in flavor. Is there any discussion about eating the seed or its benefits ? I also eat the seeds from apples.

I'm salivating! I grew up on Asian fruits and love them the best - rambutans, longans, coconuts, mangoes, lychees, jackfruits, durians, mangosteens, gauva, custard apples, persimmons, and a little fruit called trai coc or qua coc. I'm pretty fortunate that despite living in the West, the Vietnamese branch of my family knew where to source a variety of Asian produce and products back when these items were not so readily available. They made sure I knew the food from that part of my heritage.
@gordonspears63202 жыл бұрын
All delicious fruits, and all very popular in Asia. But guava and custard apple are both native to the American tropics.

is it ok to eat the outer skin of the seed?

So when I try to eat these the skin from the seed seems to be stuck on the flesh, is that still safe to eat since the pit is toxic?

Hello! My name is Emily, and I was just wondering if it's okay to eat the seed of this fruit??? I have heard so many different theories as to whether it can kill you or not. My husband and I were eating some rambutan one day and we decided to each eat a half of one of the seeds, before we had ever heard they were bad for you, and nothing happened. I don't know if we just got lucky or if they are fine to eat. If you can eat them is there a limit? Like no more than five a day or you need to cook them beforehand?? . Thank you!

There's an Asian market that I go to, to buy dragon fruit (which sadly are dwindling away at markets), and jackfruit. I was thrilled to find rambutan, and lychee but they were all brown. A mountain of bags of these brown fruits. I couldn't believe the market was selling them. I've seen KZbin folks who live in Hawaii, and the rambutans are red but with more red hair. Is that the freshest state? I live in Southern California, but maybe I do need to move to Hawaii!

Rambutan is one of the strangest-looking and most beautiful fruits, but I actually prefer the taste of lychee and longan. Fortunately I can grow both those in my Florida garden even though rambutan is a bit too tropical for Orlando.
@proudravenclaw43756 жыл бұрын
Omigod 😂😂 I've been eating them wrong this whole time. What I would do was cut the fruit in half and then take a knife and slice away parts of the fruit around the seed. I'd be left with tiny slabs of sweetness and it would take forever.
