*scared into answering by Sarah's yelling* I have never been to Korea and there's basically no Korean places here so I've never eaten any Korean food so I do not have a favourite but those Macarons looked really good! (was that a good enough answer? °_°)

I’m Korean who lives in US. It does say “coffee커피“ in Korean on the cup. It is called “Hotteok” in Korea but I think it is called ‘Hotteoku’ in Japan. Enjoyed your video in Shin Okubo. Thank you!!

I just came back from there after a few years. It's way more than a Korea town. Even more so since the last time I went there. There is a small kebab in one of the alley ways and it has to be the best I've had in Japan. I was so happy to see it still there!

The food is so good in Shin Okubo! I visited the area a couple times in my recent trip and it was more crowded than any other area I had visited on my trip, including Kyoto, though to be fair I somehow ended up in Gion on a non crowded evening. Worth it though, it is a very fun place!

I lived in Korea for four months and definitely never saw a hotteok like that! They were always sweet, filled with sugar, honey or nuts. Apparently savory versions do exist in Korea though. Now I want one! 😩

I've lived in Korea for years an have never seen it either. There is a city named Seokcho in the northeast that does a cheese Hotteok, though.

I love tteokbokki so much that I made my own rice cakes; I was tired of buying various brands, only to have them split when I cooked them. I also like mine especially spicy and I go through so much gochuchang paste every month. My favourite Korean food right now is a tie between membosa (shrimp toast) and beef bulgogi. The owner of a convenience store near me gave me her recipe for beef bulgogi so I can now make it at home, affordably, instead of paying $18 for an order with a pathetically small amount of rice. You both are small bundles of chaos and I mean that in the best way possible!

Have been to Korea and Japan about 4 times each and it's absolutely amazing! Can recommend both countries, they're always worth visiting. Favorite Korean food is Dolsot Bibimbap with Bulgogi 😍but I'm really into Japanese Ramen/Soba too 😍 PS: Yes Sarah is right, the cup at 08:34 says Keopi (커피) which translates to Kōhī (コーヒー), Kaffee in German or coffee in English 🥰

STRAWberries might imply that the practice of mulching strawberry plants with hay goes way back... in Swedish they are called "jordgubbar" which means something like soil/earth-guys... In German they are "Erdbehr" (spelling not sure), which is like earth-berries. So there is definitely great association with THE GROUND. Maybe strawberies would like to grow out of the ground like that, and eventually will evolve to do so, and the Koreans are just tapped-in, and in tune with the spirit of Strawberry, facilitating this scene-in-a-cup, that is the essence of the Strawberry's dream 🍓💙

The Korean pancake sounds like a Korean version of a pupusa! A pupusa is a Salvadorean dish of dough filled with beans and cheese, or chicharron (fried pork), or other fillings, and the dough is shaped like a pancake. I believe it is cooked on a griddle.

As others have stated, it does indeed say "coffee" in Korean, "keo-ppi" since Korean does not have an "F" sound (one could argue that Japanese doesn't, either, heh.) As a native Japanese speaker and recent student of Korean, I'd encourage you guys to learn Hangul, the Korean alphabet. It will literally take you all of an hour to do so, and it's totally a blast to study. If you find that interesting, you'll find that further study of Korean will show that they're essentially the same language. They either came from the same proto language or Japanese is a direct descendent of ancient Korean. Thanks for the fun vid!
