FRANCE 24 interviews producer of viral Donald Trump-inspired song 'Eating the cats' • FRANCE 24

Musician and producer David Scott "The Kiffness" recently spoke to FRANCE 24 on how he picked up on Donald Trump's now-debunked claim of immigrants supposedly eating cats and dogs and turned it into what became a viral sensation called "Eating the cats". The song is a "proper earworm and it has been driving me crazy because I'm performing the song every night and people are singing along", said Scott.

The Haitian immigrants are there legally and they are definitely not eating people's pets. It has been debunked by the very conservative Wall Street Journal and all the Republican officials in the state. This story is a perfect example of how conspiracy theories are dangerous and have serious consequences. It also tells us how easy it is to manipulate the masses by basically telling the same lies over and over until the really gullible buy into the utter nonsense. The same thing happens throughout history. Just remember Europe in the 1930's and 1940's.

The original post is from someone who has taken it down because she admitted she hadn't understood the story she'd heard from someone with a missing cat who has since found her cat. So only claim from Springfield is about a cat who is not missing, not dead and definitely not eaten. JD Vance admitted he invented it: "If I have to create stories so that the American media actually pays attention to the suffering of the American people, then that’s what I’m going to do". He's attempted to brand misinformation as a "meme" but even he, at best, is trying to pretend unproven claims qualifies as evidence. The original "video" everyone was reposting isn't from Springfield but Canton, almost 200 miles away, and the woman in the video isn't Haitian and isn't an immigrant but an American born woman who apparently has mental issues. I'm sure people have found more unrelated pictures and videos since then but when you look into them they aren't what people are claiming they are. And the sad thing is I know you aren't going to change your mind because you aren't being convinced by facts but your pre-existing prejudices you don't want to own up to. Which also means it doesn't matter how much fact checking I do you'll just keep moving the goalposts. But just in case I'm wrong and you can be reached, you're being lied to and exploited. None of the videos you've been sent show what you think they do and they know you'll be so horrified by the content to react logically rather than emotionally. Meanwhile we do know Kristi Noem shot her own pet dog and is still part of Trump's inner circle. You aren't jumping to think all Americans kill their pets or all of MAGA kill pets because you don't have the prejudice so you can understand it would be an unfair generalization.
