SoCal Electric will just raise the cost of power for consumers, so the people who lost their homes will pay the utility company's court judgement. If SCE is found responsible, the State should put a freeze on consumer unit price increases so the payment and equipment upgrades come out of the company and shareholder profits not the devastated businesses and people of SoCal.

Why is SCE liable? Because the ambulance chasers can't squeeze the homeless for $$$$$$$$$$. The payout % will be, on a contingency suit, 4 for me & 1 for you. Once all the settlement money is parceled out, the individual homeowner might get (who the hell knows, but it may be enough for plans, permits, demolition, & 3 years later, you're out of money. Or enough to buy a new toothbrush and a used car) Just guessing, but many will take the money and leave. Why waste it on the the L.A. asi9 bureaucracy. The insurance companies left, in large part, because of the ridiculous laws that enable the Dems best friends, attorneys. I wonder if SCE will leave?

Burying lines would take decades and unknown amounts of money. Edison has invested in several fire migration projects one is replacing transmission & distribution lines in high fire/high wind areas with covered conductor. Yet, alot more work needs to be done. The focus needs to be re-shifted to updating existing infrastructure vs pushing for new alternative energy projects. Municipalities can propose to buy out and take ekectrical distribution rights from Edison to form their own utility companies. Then they can manage/maintain/replace power lines in their region. However, those transmission towers would still belong to Edison.
