I have a Dana 44 410 gears with a e locker in the front. Open diff in the back Dana 44. I want to install a eaton true Trac in the rear. Does anyone have a opinion? Do you think it'll be a good setup?

The worst stuff to push or drive thru is warm snow. 30 - 33 degrees & I'd rather stay home or at least not deal w/ the snow. Perfect snow is 10 - 20 degrees. I can work w/ that. Looks like the disadvantage for the Avalanche was it's size in the warm snow. Kudos for the owner installing the True Trac's.

@@carmiethompson2676 as far as preference I agree with 10-20 degree snow for sure. I guess I just don’t mind the wet, warm snow at all either!

Just a tip for the future. Carry a core tool to remove the valve stem core. This will allow air into the tire much faster when seating a bead. And let you air it up much faster after it seats. Then just put the core back in and set the final desired pressure. Tip from a guy who also wheels an Avalanche, and has worked 20+ years at a tire shop. Great video.

Also carry spare valve cores. The little buggers tend to get lost.

Hey! Such a fun and educational video. I bought a 2007 Chevy Avalanche 4x2 and planning to spend winter in North Carolina. You think I’ll be safe? Not going to do any trail just normal driving in snow. Thank you! You guys seem to have lot of experience on the field.

Yes I would buy a spare set of rims cheap ones and put snow tires on them and air them down to 15 psi maximum

A GREAT video. My thoughts: I wouldn't risk such nice vehicles. I saw where substantial body damage might nearly have happened to the red Jeep. Why don't you try tire chains next time? Better traction and less likely to slide sideways when spinning on a side slope. I was impressed with how prepared you were with an air tank, straps and such and how you knew how to get the tire bead seated. I suspect snow entered the tire. It should be broken down and the water removed. Moisture inside a tire damages it. Take up snowmobiling. lol

I'm curious, why don't you use tire chains?
@4x2WagonFamily
@4x2WagonFamily Жыл бұрын
Tire chains are great if there’s a bottom or on a hard pack snow, but in deep soft snow you’ll dig a hole and get stuck. I hope that makes sense.

how about a true trac in rear and e locker for the front?..........i know one guy very experienced says e locker for rear and detroit locker for front, helps turning radius....thoughts?
@4x2WagonFamily
@4x2WagonFamily 2 жыл бұрын
When the front is locked, turning the tires is very difficult. Being able to turn the lockers off is super helpful; otherwise, you’ll be fighting the steering all day especially if your into rock crawling.
