I’m “Mexican American” and love going to Mexico. I’m fluent in Spanish and look like any other Mexican when I visit and no one has targeted or have come across any crime issues. Most of the crime is bad guys against bad guys, cartels against cartels. A lot of the things people say even by local people are blown outta proportion, it’s always my friend’s, friend’s cousin was this or that, it’s mostly always something that didn’t happen to them personally and most of the time it’s because there’s in someway involved with the bad guys. Not saying everything is perfect and things don’t happen but most people are safe, apart from the petty theft you mentioned but that can happen anywhere and can easily be avoided most of the time. Pretty much Everything else you said is true, I don’t usually drink tap water here in states without a filter either way so the water thing is not an issue, heck who likes to drink water that tastes like chlorine Lol. Mexico is a beautiful country with wonderful friendly people, the good definitely outweighs the bad. I’ve come across the corrupt cops a couple times over the years but I have faith in the current president and I know he’s fighting corruption in all levels, it’s no easy task but I have faith. Two of my biggest issues is the trash and stray dogs, I love nature and hate seeing trash especially out in nature or the country side. I love dogs and breaks my heart seeing some of the malnourished stray dogs but I’ve come across a lot of very happy dogs down there. Your videos on Mexico were very informative and you took us on some beautiful places not known by many and have inspired me to eventually get an RV and why not venture into Mexican RVing, definitely will take your advice on smaller us better though. Hope you eventually return to Mexico. Good luck on all your new adventures across the USA and everywhere else you plan on traveling.

Again...thank-you for these videos. They are informative and entertaining but most importantly, honest. They provide excellent insight into the great beauty of the country, it's many cultures and it's people. We can confirm all that you say about about rving in Mexico. We've criss-crossed your route and several others in a large diesel pusher, a diesel truck and large camper during the past 15 years but more recently in a new diesel rig simlar to yours. 0 fuel problems in Mexico ...0 road rage, one or two encounters with corrupt police but several more with honest and helpful officers, including being escorted to our "lost" destination. Many in large rigs opt for the rv equivalent of "fly and flop" and so miss most of what the country has to offer. These two young folks have harnessed their spirit of adventure and as can be seen in their first few videos have chosen to not let fear of the unknown that travelling in a foreign place and culture so naturally raises deprive them of the great adventure and education that rving in a foreign land brings. Bless you guys in your future travels and we will continue to follow along hoping we will meet along the way in Mexico. Muchos Gracias!

You nailed it. I live in Huatulco and everything you said is true. I have drove between here and the U.S. without issues, other than topes, lol. I can’t imagine driving a class A down here. The mountain roads can be scary, and sometimes barely passable in a car, but I can see larger rigs going to some area’s especially the Baja. Your Mexico series is wonderful and really caught the vibe of Mexico. I encourage people to come to Mexico it’s a big country, and like the U.S. it has areas to avoid, but so many more areas to enjoy.

Some notes on this: Pemex is not going to supply that kind of Diesel until 2024. The actual way of asking for it in Mexico is "DUBA" or doo-bah Diesel. Note that regarding your engine, the only difference ULSD and regular disesel is that the first is cleaner with the environment. Your engine would not get any damage for using Pemex Diesel whatsoever. The water that comes from most public sources IS potable, the problem for tourists is that they don't have the proper symbiotic relations with the local bacteria, so they must stick to purified water. The main reason Mexicans don't drink tap water is because it tastes bad due to chlorine and dissolved salts. Regarding not being flashy, it all depends on wich part of the country you are visiting. You can totally leave your RV parked on a random spot and stay away from iot all day on Campeche, but doing it in places like Monterrey or Acapulco is just giving freebies to the local thiefs. Mexico is safe, but some states are clearly marked as no-go zones and people should really be concious about that.

Thanks guys! That pretty much matches our experiences traveling through Mexico. Well done! One thing though regarding Truckcampers. There is a wheight limit of 7716 pounds or 3,5t. We had been turned back on our first attempt getting a TIP. We have a 1ton truck. The second time round and on another crossing they mad an exception and we had to get permission from customs for an overweight vehicle in order to get our TIP. Happy trails!

When you said “international travel isn’t for everyone” and to expect things as they are and not as they ‘should be’ like your home country- you are totally correct! When I traveled and lived in India MANY years ago I often wondered how the ppl could tolerate the trash and garbage. It was unsettling and something I finally could ‘look past’ as I became more in love w/the Indian ppl and culture. I love the Mexican culture and their ppl- I pray one day their government will provide them w/an honest and safe country replete w/sanitation infrastructure they need and can enjoy. I loved the way that you embrace my culture. My mom is from Matehuala, My father from Oaxaca, I was born and educated in Saltillo and Houston. I worked around 12 of the Mexican States as an Engineer. Thanks for this great info. I also want to share one substantial issue: temporary importation of the RV. If you don’t do your homework and bring all of the correct original documents and copies, you could find yourself unable to proceed. There are many sites to get information. Also, know the lay of the land at the point of crossing. Laredo works much differently than Eagle Pass or Nogales, and road conditions can be completely different. We crossed at Eagle Pass, and while easy, the roads were lousy and immigration was 45 minutes into the country; however it’s known as one of the safer crossings in Texas.

Thanks for being real about Mexico...Street dogs, trash, and people trying to sell me stuff all the time would tear at my heartstrings constantly. I don't think I could enjoy myself because I would be thinking about those issues too much. Even seeing that dog walk up to you on the beach in one video, I thought about how could I possibly walk away from it knowing it has no home? But I'm sure one would have to do that a lot there.

I should point out a few inaccuracies or dated items. We run RV Caravans in Mexico. ULSD diesel is almost universal now. This is quite recent. We have monitored DEF consumption which is a good indicator, and it is normal. Pumps are not usually marked as they say. I have found plenty of parks with 30 Amp, there are only 2 I am aware of with 50 Amp. Electricity is marginal and it is actually too low a voltage that causes the most issues. You can buy a Sola Basic 4000 Voltage Regulator to correct it. (about $250) but you have to wire them up. I do not recommend the Hughes autoformer as it does not correct high voltage. Overall, this is great video. As they say smaller is better. Those with larger rigs may want to use a caravan to learn the ropes and where you can safely travel.

I driving been every year to Mexico 🇲🇽 in My Rv an old ( 1993 fleetwood class C ) from LA to Huatulco bay Oaxaca and thanks god nothing are happening to me and my wife it’s been very great experience. Just don’t use secondary roads or used just if it’s necessary avoid driving at night this is very important can dangerous stop to rest just at truck stops there’s are a ton of those along the route my complaint is that tollbooths are expensive but other than this is safe and fun. I’m traveling next year January 3rd 2025 from Covina to Oaxaca in case someone wants to travel together 👍

Great video guys! I do have a question, maybe I missed your video on where you mentioned the Yucatán peninsula as being bothered by vendors more. Where specifically was that? I know Quintana Roo is bad but haven’t experienced it more so in the Yucatán.

When we refer to the Yucatan peninsula is the entire peninsula including Quintana Roo not just the state of Yucatan.

Good tips: don't drive at night.. do get a double fuel filter so that the dust does not clog your carburetor...unscrew your license plate and keep one of them in your front windshield and stash the second one. Police will often unscrew your plates until you "settle up accounts". Also, discretely pass the 20 dollar bribe with a handshake, on the spot. It will cost ten times that if you want to take the problem to the station house, The Big Guy takes a Big Cut, and there will be more hands that will need to be greased, and finally, keep in mind the old expression that "the map is NOT the territory"...it takes all day in order to drive clear across Mexico City...so work around that one. Hope that may help some of you. Mexico and the folks there are friendly, smart, ingenious and industrious. Respect will get you what money may not. I was having lunch in Merida when a young gringo couple came in and ordered the same meal which I had ordered from a bilingual menu. They went "Karen" on a brother as I left my table and slowly approached their table. Their eyeballs were shooting daggers at me. Gringos help out gringos. I mentioned that I heard them order beans and rice for ten bucks. I politely explained to them that I had ordered frjoles and arrow (which is, of course beans rice), but that because they had ordered in English the printed price was twice what I was paying. We had a good laugh about it. Safe Journeys and bring your manners with you..nice people♥️😎

Mostly cash. Bigger cities allow you to use credit or debit cards but cash is king.

so true with the infrastructure on the trash removal on any developing countries. Shame, during my travels in East Asia, this is prevalent on the trash removal, even in the rural areas in China (major cities are excellent and clean). Developed countries in East Asia are South Korean, Japan and Taiwan where I do not see trash.
